This does not bode well for NRT-LAX for the A380 and their supporters. Very quiet on that front.

SQ's A380s are no longer grounded.
Code:Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) resumed flying its A380 fleet on Friday, lifting a grounding order imposed after a Qantas A380 engine failed inflight, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing. Singapore airlines said it had checked and cleared its entire fleet of 11 Airbus (EAD.PA) A380 aircraft for service, said a spokeswoman for the airline in Australia. All 11 of Singapore Airlines' A380 aircraft had been inspected and were found be safe, Susan Bredow told Reuters. "They have all been inspected in accordance with the requirements of Airbus and Rolls-Royce (RR.L). That was done overnight and everyone is satisfied the aircraft are serviceable and will be back on their scheduled routes as soon as possible," she said.

Thanks for the info, feb01mel. I was wondering about SQ317's delay - I guess they had to wait until about 23:00 Singapore time, otherwise they'd be hitting the curfew at LHR (having read reports earlier of a 5hr delay) - pretty sure 04:300 GMT is about the earliest arrival there.
It would have also meant a much longer time on the ground at LHR - again due to curfew, had it arrived at say 22:00 GMT, as there would have been no time before curfew to turn it around for departure back to SIN.
Out of interest, does anyone know what time the return sector is due to leave LHR on Friday as a result of yesterday's delay of 317?

Based on what I'm seeing, I'm due to fly on November 19 on the 777-300ER from SFO-SIN via HKG, and the 28th SIN-SFO via ICN, my main question is that do you think they'll be pulling 777-300ERs out of SFO to operate for AUS routes during those dates and put a temporary 747-400 on the SFO route? Please keep me posted if it happens.

SQ 856 (Nov 5) is now operated by a 777-200.
Seems that this 380 fiasco is having knock-on effect on SQ ops too. SQ 241 was delayed for an hour this morning. The first SIN-HKG flight of today has also been delayed.
Looks likes MEL, HKG are destinations that SQ will pull the A380 from first. Wonder how long before the schedule will be back to normal.

Yeah that's my question.....which is why I assumed they could pull some 77Ws out for a short time and put the 747 to SFO and whatknot but its my speculation it's not like I'm expecting it to happen. Those 77Ws can operate the extra flights needed for stranded pax

Don't forget, cabin crew rostering have also been affected as there are fewer 747-400 crew now, & I pity the staff working at The Private Room (TPR), they must be open the whole of last night too...
