  • SQ delays its A380 flights

Sounds worrying, especially since I have an LHR flight coming up.

SQ 221 & SQ 227 have been delayed to 2300 hours departure, and per website, aircraft change to old regional 773.

    SQ 345, 317, 333 are all delayed.

Not a surprise. If I were flying SQ in the next few weeks I would be preparing for the possibility of being TG'd.

this could cause travel chaos if Emirates need to do the same - but safety must come first

To make things more worrying for me, SQ sent me a text and an email telling me of a possible delay of my SIN-LHR flight. I wanted to switch to the 77W flight but turns out, it's full.

Who knows, maybe I'll end up going via FRA

EK's birds are powered by GP7270's , not Rollers - so I doubt the same issue applies. But yeah, I've got an SQ 380 leg coming up soon too

Doubt I'll get TG-ed on SQ to a better bird down to MEL next week, but here's hoping...

Now ChannelNewsAsia is reporting SIA transferring pax from the A380 to the B777.

I wonder why they cannot x-fer the pax to the Boeing 747. It sucks to get the old 777-300.

Was at the airport and heard them announce. Hope my flight in Dec won't be affected.

Not enough of them lying around I presume.

I wonder if SQ has a contingency plan for when things like this happen.

I'm due to fly out on SQ317 on Nov. 20th. Obviously I want to fly safely like anyone else, but I do hope they find the engines are all ok and continue service. I really like that bird. Fingers crossed for all of us scheduled to fly the Whalejet this month.
