11/7, SQ26 ex-FRA, aircraft left gate on time (though followed some small hold-up delay due to FRA ATC).

    Load-wise, Y was around 60% full.

I heard over a net that engine replacements for the 380 were needed on 2 aircraft.

SIA's A380 checks find nothing alarming

SIA's A380 checks find nothing alarming

SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) has said it "did not find anything of concern" after completing engine inspections on all 11 of its A380 aircraft.

SIA said the findings from its inspections have been reviewed with the manufacturer, Rolls Royce, and that any further checks recommended by the manufacturers would be done.

Meanwhile, SIA would continue with its regular routine checks.

The airline said safety remains the number one priority and that it has been operating the A380 for more than three years.

Over that period of time, its 11 A380s have accumulated more than 100,000 flying hours on more than 10,000 flights, carrying more than four million passengers.

The airline gave this assurance in response to queries from Channel NewsAsia, following reports that Qantas has grounded its Airbus A380s after finding "slight anomalies" in some engines.

Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said tests revealed oil leaks in three engines manufactured by Rolls Royce.

The investigations come as engineers try to find the cause of engine failure on the Qantas A380 plane that made an emergency landing in Singapore last Thursday.

Mr Joyce also raised the possibility that "there could be a materials issue or design issue on the engine."

SIA said it could not comment on this.

On queries whether similar checks were conducted on SIA's boeing 747s following the second emergency landing by a Qantas Boeing 747 that had also faced an engine problem, SIA said its Boeing 747-400s are not powered by the same type of engine that powered the aircraft involved.

It looks to me as if their Superjumbos are up and running now. Are the schedules back on track?

Nov 7 (Sun) SQ866/865 744 9V-SPJ was deployed on HKG<=>SIN after 2 years of suspending SQ 744 services into HKG. But A380 on SQ856/861 was flown into HKG on the same day as usual. Unlike on Nov 5 (Fri) whereas 772 was substituted. Don't know what's the reason behind for the last minute aircraft swap.

                    * Oil found on three Singapore A380s
                    * Crew refuse to fly from Heathrow Airport
                    * Engine makers working on recommendations

CONCERNS over the future of Rolls-Royce powered A380s has taken a new turn after three of Singapore Airlines big jets were grounded.

The grounded A380s are in Melbourne, Sydney and London, the ABC said.

Crew in Heathrow refused to fly the jet which was due to take-off at 8.30am (AEDT) for Singapore after oil was found in one of the jet's turbines, the same problem that was detected at the weekend on three engines that were removed from Qantas jets, Heraldsun.com.au reports.

SQ 238/ 10 Nov is now serviced by B747 and delayed to 1330 departure
SQ 228/ 10 Nov is now serviced by A380 for 1430 departure
I assume that they need more checks.

3 birds are also going for an engine change.

Funny how the picture in the Channel NewsAsia website, based in Singapore and owned by MediaCorp, which is owned by SQ's parent company, has a picture of an AF A380 in the article.

                            Sorry random point.

I wonder why this was not picked up in the 8 hr inspections they did the other day?
