The 777s in for refurbishing are the regional 777-200s (non-ER) while those used to fly to JNB are the 777-200ERs.

For those who are unaware, the seat map link for the newly refurbished 777-200
        is as below.

Rows 17 & 18 in J class will be in a mini cabin.
However, during boarding, Economy pax will be walking pass you to get to their seats if that doesn't bother you.

Looks like there's one less lav upfront now.

3 lavatories for J class, 1 in front & 2 in the middle.
Formerly, it is the old 3-class configuration, so first class pax will use the lavatory in front.

That is a very generous seat pitch and spacious cabin for J class! Interestingly, their A330s carry more pax than the retrofitted B772s (30J/255Y vs 38J/228Y).

Yep, very generous seat pitch at 65" in J. Previously, seat pitch was at 60" in F for this aircraft!
                Spacebed was at 58" IIRC.

Economy class pitch is now 33", like on B777-200ERs.

but only for the front cabin - the chart shows 32" for the back one. I guess that settles which area I'll be aiming for then!

There are no changes to the economy seat pitch. B772ERs have 34" pitch in Y.

                      B772ERs have 33" pitch in Y, B772s 32".

A long time ago, I have asked SQ to be sure, and got this reply:
We wish to inform that the seat pitch of our B777-200 and B777-200ER aircraft are 32" and 33" respectively.

Ah okay, missed that part. Yup, now we know which cabin to aim for.

Not according to seat guru, which had already stated that current B772s have 33" pitch for the front Y cabin.

For this matter, I would trust SQ than Seat Guru.
There's no reason why SQ would undermarket their products.

Seatguru tries, but more often than not I think they have quite a few gaps to plug. I only refer to it when flying on an unknown airline on a route without a real ´necessity´to do more research.

Spot on. They do try, but ultimately they're dependent on input from their users.

In this case, StarG is right, seatguru is wrong. 33" in the SV's, 32" in the SQ's and SR's. I've asked SQ the same question.

I agree seat pitch of 65" is incredibly generous for a J product.

Exactly. I only use seatguru for checking on seat numbers for airlines I don't fly with frequently.

I think it was Savage25 who once pointed that they just put 'the proximity of the galley/lavatory could be bothersome' on first and last row on every aircraft. They must have been up all night working that one out.
