To be honest, I'm quite lost and confused in this thread, but I have to say that the following line made me smile!

2 SIA A380s resume flying
2 SIA A380s resume flying
SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) has resumed flying two of three grounded Airbus A380s after replacing Rolls-Royce engines found to have oil stains, a spokesman for the carrier said Monday.
"Over the weekend, two were put back into service," the spokesman said, adding that checks were still being conducted on the third plane.
One engine in each of the grounded SIA A380s was found to have oil stains and all three engines were replaced as a precaution.
The airline was the launch customer of the A380 and now has 11 of the massive aircraft in service, with another eight on order.
The three SIA aircraft were grounded after a Qantas A380 using similar Rolls Royce Trent 900 engines was forced to make an emergency landing in Singapore on November 4 after one of the engines blew out.
Qantas has grounded its entire fleet of six A380s and not announced when they will fly again.
Rolls-Royce said last week the failure of a "specific component in the turbine area of the engine" caused the fire which caused the mid-air blowout on the Qantas flight shortly after it took off for Sydney.

Originally posted by Nick C View PostThe Emergency AD (AD No.: 2010-0236-E) issued yesterday is going to give all A380 (RR) operators a problem with aircraft scheduling for quite a while.
Every T900 in service will need an extended ground run (idle) within the next 10 cycles. Followed by inspections on the LPT stage 1 blades and case drain, HP/IP structure air buffer cavity and oil service tubes.
Time between engine checks must not exceed 20 cycles. (on-wing run is not considered a cycle)
Further engine operation is prohibited if any discrepancies are found during the inspections.
From the looks of it, SQ has no intention to ground it's A380 fleet. Seems more like the 3 affected aircraft were removed from revenue ops to facilitate testing and checks; with minimal disturbances to the European & North Asian ops. So after checks are done, the rest of the 8 will probably be cycled through the same inspection flow based on the AD. While the increased downtime will bear a significant impact to Australian ops for the next couple of days.
I guess SQ is looking forward to receiving -SKL soon.

A slight accident may cause many life. There is no room for error. You cannot compare some M$ equipment vs a few K$ - to a airline industry, a car is just like a toy to them.

Clearly you don't even reliase you have now started responding to your own posts. Have a look at post 128, and do yourself a favour and go and see someone about your 'issues', before you completely lose the plot.Last edited by MAN Flyer; 16 November 2010, 05:33 AM.
