    Sounds about right...

What I did last time was booked my ticket on their website, and then wrote in to them (sq_reservations@singaporeair.com) with my booking reference and an attached certificate of enrolment, and they replied saying they had authorised up to 30kg on my booking. I then printed off the email and took it with me (knowing that the airport staff would not be able to find that note in my booking) and everything was sorted out at the airport - they cleared my 36kg of check-in bags. Not sure if policies have changed, that was back in 2006.

Just make sure you have written word from them as far as possible because the airport staff have a knack of being stiff with you.

When I was a university student (many years ago!), all the Singaporean students I knew used Lee's Travel in London for their SQ tix. I don't know whether it's the same today.

Do these student priveleges also apply to award tickets, going to canada via Shanghai on SQ, and I could use the extra luggage possibly

              Does this sound right?

              Thanks
make sure they put this info into your PNR... so 'if' the check-in agent give you any problems about the 10 extra kgs you can simply tell them to pull up your PNR and it will state the 10 extra kgs allowed

Yes That sounds about right. If you have an ISIC card that'd sort you out.

My advise is to try out the STA website http://www.statravel.com.sg/ if you are price sensitive and don't mind flying other carriers.

I'm guessing FN-GM is in MAN and not SIN. But you are right about the ISIC card... Has worked well for me before.

Looks like you've found a most optimal solution.

I never knew there were such discounts.

I'm a little disappointed though. When I saw the thread title I thought it was about university students entitled to a student discount when we travel on our personal holidays during semester breaks. Guess I can dream on

All the best for your studies!
