You're probably right FN-GM - after train fares etc, there's not going to be much difference between LHR and MAN. I just feel slightly ripped off compared to the "good old days" when MAN was slightly cheaper. Nothing like being a good old fashioned skin flint.

Singapore Airlines To Increase Munich-Manchester Services To Daily

      11 June 2010
From 1 September 2010, Singapore Airlines’ customers will be able to enjoy daily flights to Munich and Manchester. This will be an increase from the existing five-times-weekly Singapore-Munich-Manchester vv services. Detailed flight schedules are listed in the Annex.

The Airline commenced flights to Munich, southern Germany’s largest city, using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on 28 March 2010.

"The fact that we will be operating daily to Munich just five months after introducing the new destination is a testament to the popularity of the route. We are pleased that our products have been so well received, and we are confident that the additional flights will cater to the growing demand of our business and leisure customers travelling to and from both Munich and Manchester,” said Mr. Goh Choon Phong, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President Marketing and the Regions.

Customers travelling on the Singapore-Munich-Manchester vv service will experience the Airline’s latest product offerings, including a new First Class seat which converts into the largest full-flat bed in the sky, a 30-inch-wide Business Class seat, the widest in its class, and the unprecedented comfort and space offered by the all-new Economy Class seats.

In addition, customers can be entertained by more than 1000 on-demand options available on Singapore Airlines’ award-winning inflight entertainment system available across all three classes. First Class seats are fitted with 23-inch screens, Business Class seats feature 15.4-inch screens and Economy Class 10.6-inch screens.

Singapore Airlines also operates twice-daily flights to Frankfurt. The additional Munich services will increase frequency between Singapore and Germany to 21 flights per week.

Well SQ at MAN seem quite thrilled about going back to daily, so much so that a nice letter has arrived inviting us to the first Do in a while to celebrate.

Thought you weren't from MAN? :-)

Me too, I guess Prestbury is also not MAN?!

I'm not from the city or the airport. I just fly from there every now and then.

I was just advising SQ at MAN - where I am not from - are having a little soiree to celebrate going back to daily.

I wouldn't say Prestbury is Manchester either, you need an 0161 phone number and M.. post code, neither of which Prestbury has I believe.

[Due to typing incompetence, this may well appear twice. Sorry about that].

Just checking, now the route's been in place for a while: do you still have to deplane at MUC? And, if so, has anyone had any problems with the duty free [etc] liquids over 100ml limit?

                    Hi,

When i booked a flight on this route 3 weeks ago they said you do need to deplane. I dont think you will go through security again so i dont think liquids will be a problem.

                    • Yes you do have to get off in MUC inbound and outbound and yes you do also have to go through security again at MUC inbound and outbound.

It's pretty quick but it's still a PITA, and like an LSS said to me last time, bizarre as MUC and MAN are both 'A' stations. When we used to go via ZRH we stayed on board outbound.

But you would not even be aware of an SQ Soiree in MAN if you were not in the SQ MAN cohort? No, Prestbury is not a 161 code and, in fact, I am sick of premier league footballers, except that the value of my property has quadrupled!!!

So "MAN' was a generalisation. And please say Hi to Janet!!

What a cute little doggy, and thanks for the kind suggestion. But, no thanks, I'm quite happy here in Asia and the proceeds from the sale in Prestbury will see me fine. Thank you so much for your concern.

You are required to deplane in MUC for both SQ327 and SQ328, but you will go through security screening only when you arrive from a non-Schengan state (i.e. SQ328 SIN-MUC-MAN).

Take note that all duty-free liquids, except those purchased and sealed in tamper-proof bags from Singapore Changi Airport, will be disposed off by the German security agents.
