That was certainly a good experience. My bell went "DING!" only at the check-in counter. Would have loved something more dramatic!Originally posted by aerosmith View PostA bit OT here, that op-up was presented only after I was sitted comfortably at 17A for around 5 minutes when the ground crew came to my seat and ask for my BP. I was prepared to put on a fight if I was asked to move to another J seat to give way to a higher premium passenger. But hey, it was a pleasant surprise when she passed me a bright red BP with seat 3A indicated on it in exchange. Worth all the effort to climb down the stairs to my new seat.

AFAIK, since the meals are lunch and light meal, both are BTCed. I remembered I did it. I had not so heavy lunch, and I had lamb for light meal which is about dinner time in Europe.Originally posted by 9V-JKL View PostQuestion for SQ326 SIN-FRA experts: Can one BTC both lunch & light meal or just lunch?

Yes, you may. But really, Kyo-Kaiseki on SQ is not good in my opinion after taking few NH flights to LAX. SQ one seems too cold for me. I like something hot. The same for the Chinese set meals that I had from HKG to SIN recently. Too cold. Not a warm meal.Originally posted by UMD View PostIf you BTC Kyo-Kaiseki meal, can you still enjoy the caviar or the other appetizer out of the regular menu?

I also don't care for the kyo-kaiseki on SQ F - have had it 4 times in the past year and only mildly enjoyed it once. The presentation is the best part (good photo op), but the taste and ingredient left a lot to be desired. May be better for people who really know a lot about Japanese cuisine, as a lot of the ingredients are not identifiable for novices like me. The crew once showed me their instruction sheet with diagrams and text (to make sure there's no meat product, as I had specified - I'm mostly vegetarian but will eat some seafood), and according to the English descriptions, the ingredients are definitely 'exotic' to the uninitiated.Originally posted by CGK View PostKyo-Kaiseki on SQ is not good in my opinion
Now, if only they had shojin-ryori (Zen buddhist vegetarian kaiseki, widely available in Kyoto and especially at temples)...

Thanks for the head up info. I will opt for the Shi Quan Shi Mei instead since this will be for flight out of SIN to SYD. I believe the ex-SIN Shi Quan Shi Mei is desigend by Sam Leong. So, it should be OK.Originally posted by CGK View PostYes, you may. But really, Kyo-Kaiseki on SQ is not good in my opinion after taking few NH flights to LAX. SQ one seems too cold for me. No, it is not BTC but I have a feeling that it will be offered if you choose Oriental Meal (need confirmation - SQ website lists Oriental Meal as Chinese). The last time I picked Oriental meal when I was flying F, I was also offered Shi Quan Shi Mei. But, I decided to go with the lamb instead.Originally posted by CGK View PostI thought Shi Quan Shi Mei is not BTC, but on board choice for flights bound to/from China.
Let's hope if it will be Shi Quan Shi Mei again this time.
KPC, thanks for the link. It does look delicious.
