I've tried the grilled tuna with vinegared white miso and mixed seaweed sauce served with udon. Definitely wasn't what I had expected.

      I was expecting this:

      (image property of istockphoto)

But this is what it actually is:

The sauce was overpowering to say the least.

Yikes! Talk about expectations colliding with reality.

In all fairness, though, it is not really fair to expect a photo of "seared tuna" found on the web to coincide exactly with the BTC selection, is it? I mean, they do say "vinegared white miso and mixed seaweed sauce," and I don't see any of that in the first photo...

          Urban Legend.

The only J to F op-up I got was back in June 2005. It was JFK-FRA on SQ25, and I actually did BTC. I was only a QPP1 then.

A bit OT here, that op-up was presented only after I was sitted comfortably at 17A for around 5 minutes when the ground crew came to my seat and ask for my BP. I was prepared to put on a fight if I was asked to move to another J seat to give way to a higher premium passenger. But hey, it was a pleasant surprise when she passed me a bright red BP with seat 3A indicated on it in exchange. Worth all the effort to climb down the stairs to my new seat.

I see seaweed. But yes it's slightly "unfair" although it would have been rather nice to get something like seared tuna, knowing it probably came from Tsukiji.

I had that on Sunday on SQ328 and it was excellent. Followed by Nasi Biryani for breakfast I think this may well be my ongoing choice for the late night flights back to Europe, and will hopefully ensure I remember to BTC.

Going back to the OP. For question 2, yes you can order something off the menu instead if you wish to.

So disappointed when they didn't get my BTC on my recent J flight from LHR-SIN. In a way, it spoilt the experience for me!

This is not unheard of. I hope you complained so the airline know what's going on. Let them have a chance to make it up to you.

At the left bottom of BP stub, there is usually the code for the BTC you ordered. If it's blank, it means the BTC is not recorded correctly in your PNR.

                      Can't figure this.

Am booked on SQ28/27 SIN-TPE-LAX-TPE-SIN (77W when I'll fly it). I know I can BTC SIN-TPE/LAX-TPE but can I BTC TPE-LAX and TPE-SIN? TPE is a BTC station though

I was just on the phone with SQ and I learned that I could BTC for SQ 638 supper that leaves SIN for NRT at 2340 local time. If BTC is possible for SQ 638, it should have no problem for the TPE - LAX (supper as well). I am not sure, however, for TPE-SIN since BTC is not available for Breakfast.

CGK, being one of the masters in this (or maybe The Master of BTC), should have all the answers.

I understand that part on BTCing supper. I don't get off at TPE and therefore my flight is basically ex-SIN & ex-LAX. Question is can I BTC ex-TPE along the way

9V-JKL, Why don't you BTC for 2 meals ex-SIN and ex-LAX? Or maybe there is a specific menu that you really like from TPE BTC station?
