I am planning a flight from NYC to SIN in F Class at the end of the year. I have read about the possibility of canceling JFK - FRA on this website. That means leaving possibly just the EWR - SIN without F Class. I ignorant of SQ's ticketing policy but if I get downgraded onto C Class on the direct flight, how will the refund policy works in this case for a paid ticket? Probably a similar subject has been covered earlier.

NYC-SIN paid F: what happens if JFK-NYC is cancelled?

I don't know the definitive answer. Though I imagine, particularly if you have status with SQ, that you could request SIN-FRA in SQ F, connecting to FRA-JFK on LH F.
Invol downgrade due to a/c change probably does not get you a very favourable refund.

I am really interested to know what SQ is gonna do with SIN-FRA-JFK with the retirement of the 744s. A380 is suitable for the SIN-FRA sector but just too large a capacity for the continuing FRA-JFK. However, the capacity of the B77W is too small for sin SIN-FRA sector of SQ26.

ZRH/FRA Transit
Yes, that's also very nice and the new LX F lounge at ZRH is always very peaceful and comfortable. But, given the right connections, I find using the F Class Terminal at FRA a very nice way to go. The limitations for both are the limited onward connex to SIN?Originally posted by stargold View PostPersonally, if in F, I would transit through ZRH. Perfect connection timings, decent lounge at ZRH and LX F gets much more favourable reviews on the whole than LH F in the air.

Up Top
Sorry, also forgot to say I also like the space in the LH First on the Upper Deck of the 744.Originally posted by stargold View PostPersonally, if in F, I would transit through ZRH. LH JFK-SIN
Yes it doesn't suit evreyone but there are only 16 seats up there and I find it very private and comfortable. Many business travellers like the C Class Upper deck on other carriers for its privacy and that is with a minimum of 26 seats. If travelling alone in LH F I find Row 83 to be very spacious and comfortable. I just flew back from JFK last week on LH with only 2 others in F and it was a very nice flight, great food, great wines and great service. The crews do vary with LH but I like that.Originally posted by MAN Flyer View PostOh I don't, it's the main downside of LH F on the 744 imho.
However, and apologies that I contributed to this with my supplemental last post, but this is OFF TOPIC. The OP was regarding SPECIFICALLY JFK-SIN. I like LX very much (And used to adore Swissair F) but prefer LH JFK-SIN because LH has more flights NYC-Europe than LX and the LX F is a bit cramped, only 8 seats and a small cabin. Both lines have only one daily flight from Europe to SIN and both leave at around the same time, 22:00+ PM. The LX flight, however, stops over in BKK, the LH is direct. Beyond that, the dedicated LH F Terminal at FRA is a great place to spend time in transit, whereas the LX F lounge in ZRH is pleasant but has less privacy and facilities.
That would be my take. But very fortunately we are all different and have our own preferences.

I don't like it, really. Combined with the outdated LH F product, the whole experience comes off as a top-end business experience, rather than a First experience. LH F on the A330/340 is much better.Originally posted by philipat View PostSorry, also forgot to say I also like the space in the LH First on the Upper Deck of the 744.

So JFK-SIN *A?
Yes, it's not the best seat BUT the question was, and I'm assuming *A (Perhaps wrongly?), what to do JFK-SIN F if SQ stops? That was the basis for my response. VS Upper via LHR might be another option, but that's not truly F.Originally posted by Savage25 View PostI don't like it, really. As others have said, I'd probably go back via Europe, in that case.
Savage25, do you have any rough estimates on when LH will overhaul its new F product? Do you suppose they may do this in another half a year, by say, September? Any clues what route they're putting their A388 on?Originally posted by Savage25 View PostI don't like it, really. LX is your best bet. JFK is also the first airport to recieve LX's new A330 at the end of this month which is fitted with the new F class (which looks to be in the top 3 worldwide IMO) http://www.swiss.com/web/EN/services...rst_class.aspx
Also there is a good chance your a340 to SIN will have been upgraded with the new seat by the end of this year. I have flown both LX F and SQ F recently and must say that the experiences are both very good and of a similar standard IMO (SQ just ahead for service but only very very slightly). Good food on LX and a nice lounge in ZRH exclusively for LX F pax with a mercedes van transfer to aeroplane.
Get it changed to LX!Summer holiday plans: Asia 09
