For a relatively short-term poster, he sure does know how to rub everyone up the wrong way...

Err, perhaps you would like to re-read post number 10 on this thread.....and engage one's brain before putting one's metaphoric mouth (or keyboard) into gear.

Oh, and don't ever call me a Mancunian.

Yes I fly from the airport an awful lot, but I neither live in Manchester or work there. Nor have I ever done either.

To be clear, what I said was that LH First Class has 16 setas in the 744 Upper Deck. Other airlines have at least 28 Business Class seats in the Upper deck of the 744, so I find LH F Very spacious and comfortable. Next time you have problems with your English language please do not misquote me and perhaps ask me or the Mods for help? I am reporting your post on the basis of being a misquote.

To be honest, you can't be sure what is going to happen at the moment such is the fluidity of the situation. Routes that were thought to be safe could get pulled (look at YVR...), those under threat could get a reprieve or an equip swap.

JFK may well survive, although if it does it the 744 obviously has to go and a 77W is favourite, as has been the intention for a while. They've got a bit of 'bird shuffling' to do over the next few months.

    But, anything can happen...
Thanks Man Flyer, the situation is becoming more fluid by the day. My European trip is becoming a bigger mess now. I am going to keep my booking at a later date for the NYC trip.

No idea. I think it'll only happen when their A380s arrive, whenever that is.

LX is your best bet. JFK is also the first airport to recieve LX's new A330 at the end of this month which is fitted with the new F class (which looks to be in the top 3 worldwide IMO) http://www.swiss.com/web/EN/services...rst_class.aspx

Also there is a good chance your a340 to SIN will have been upgraded with the new seat by the end of this year. I have flown both LX F and SQ F recently and must say that the experiences are both very good and of a similar standard IMO (SQ just ahead for service but only very very slightly). Good food on LX and a nice lounge in ZRH exclusively for LX F pax with a mercedes van transfer to aeroplane.

    Get it changed to LX!

LX is a good alternative if its F all the way. If you don't mind C for intra-Asia, NH & OZ are also very good choices.

As others have said, I'd probably go back via Europe, in that case.

Yes, it's not the best seat BUT the question was, and I'm assuming *A (Perhaps wrongly?), what to do JFK-SIN F if SQ stops? That was the basis for my response. VS Upper via LHR might be another option, but that's not truly F.

    LH JFK-SIN

Yes it doesn't suit evreyone but there are only 16 seats up there and I find it very private and comfortable. Many business travellers like the C Class Upper deck on other carriers for its privacy and that is with a minimum of 26 seats. If travelling alone in LH F I find Row 83 to be very spacious and comfortable. I just flew back from JFK last week on LH with only 2 others in F and it was a very nice flight, great food, great wines and great service. The crews do vary with LH but I like that.

However, and apologies that I contributed to this with my supplemental last post, but this is OFF TOPIC. The OP was regarding SPECIFICALLY JFK-SIN. I like LX very much (And used to adore Swissair F) but prefer LH JFK-SIN because LH has more flights NYC-Europe than LX and the LX F is a bit cramped, only 8 seats and a small cabin. Both lines have only one daily flight from Europe to SIN and both leave at around the same time, 22:00+ PM. The LX flight, however, stops over in BKK, the LH is direct. Beyond that, the dedicated LH F Terminal at FRA is a great place to spend time in transit, whereas the LX F lounge in ZRH is pleasant but has less privacy and facilities.

That would be my take. But very fortunately we are all different and have our own preferences.
