Where is the A380 flying to next?

Look at the competition they have on that route. NH/JL/AA/UA/KE use full flat suites in F, slanted lie flat seats or recliners in J, AVOD PTVs or overhead IFE in Y which is on par with the F/J/Y on the 744; unlike HKG-SFO where UA/CX have 180 lie flats in J leading SQ to withdraw the 744 and deploy the 77W with the new F/J/Y. Not to forget the US recession which is leading to very low loads, it makes more sense to deploy the 388 to another destination with better loads.Originally posted by nursalimLPP View PostThey need to have a SIN-NRT-LAX route with either the ER or the A380. It's retarded that no US routes have A380.
It's not like the US doesn't see the new F/J/Y product. 5 of the 7 US flights have the new product with the exception of R class.

All SQ 744s are to be retired by 2011. Yeah! Not going to happen.Originally posted by nursalimLPP View Post...OR REFURBISH the 744 business class and First class.
US is the epic center of current downturn. There is no need for more capacity from A380. Yes, I would like to see A380 to LAX too, but it won't be anytime soon. OTOH, I think there is a slight chance that LAX may get the 77Ws.Last edited by TerryK; 26 January 2009, 11:47 PM.

Uh, where would they get the airframes? The ones to be released from the two CDG flights are already committed; the 19th 77W goes to re-instate the China and Australia services that have been temporarily downgraded to free up planes for SQ 1 and 2; and there aren't any more to come.Originally posted by TerryK View PostOTOH, I think there is a slight chance that LAX may get the 77Ws.
Perhaps if some 773s are upgraded with new seats, and then placed on routes to India or China in lieu of 77Ws.....

I reckon SFO should get the 388 for a first-choice US port, even though I do agree that SIN-NRT-LAX would make sense since SQ637/638 is already being served by one of the five Whalejets in service.Originally posted by TerryK View PostAll SQ 744s are to be retired by 2011. Yeah! Not going to happen.

I also believe that one of the reasons as to why SQ didn't look into serving 388 equipment into LAX is because QF had the exclusive right to bring the Whale there first. Now that this has already happened, it should free up the possibility of other airlines serving this port.
However, with the current economic conditions, one would think twice before making such a decision. SQ's decision to bring the 77W aircraft onto the SQ1/2 route makes perfect sense in troubled times like these, and is a win-win for both the airline and its customers - as it also features the newer F-J-Y offerings too.

Awesomeness. My next trip is in apirl to singapore Via NRT hopefully by than it be a388. Indonesia's legislative election so i have to go home. And back to LA again and back again to indonesia in july indonesia's presidential election.Originally posted by HUGE AL View PostOK, along with a few others, I have always thought this thread was really...hmmm...searching for the correct P/C term here...well...you get the idea...
That said, in true fashion HUGE AL wanted to help out:
Was told by an LSS and IFS yesterday that NRT-LAX is the next route to get the whale. Initially, SQ was going to put it on the HKG-SFO route, but the Chinese crews have not completed their training yet and the Japanese crews are all ready to go.
That is all...

Yeah, it can get a bit crazy up there after so long...Originally posted by nursalimLPP View PostI did try direct 1 time i couldnt stand the duration my god over 15hours i am like i need xanax or i am going to start pulling my hair out.
But I usually head to the back of the A345 to chill out with the crew and some of the other passengers who've also decided to stretch their legs.
At other times, I'll either sleep it off or catch up on some cinema experience that I somewhat lack

The 77W also downgauges the 744 on SQ231/232 SIN-SYD wef 02 JUN.Originally posted by Bitterroot View PostUh, where would they get the airframes? Knowing SQ, I believe some agreements regarding the sale of the 777s have been firmed before the recession so we will be seeing them leave the fleet regardless. The refurbished 773s will be deployed downunder as well (MEL apparently?)
It won't be a 388 for sure. The next 2 388 deliveries will be used to upgauge the 77Ws to CDG.Originally posted by nursalimLPP View PostAwesomeness. You need 2 A380s to fly daily SIN-NRT-LAX and back. Since the next 2 A380s have been committed to SIN-CDG route, you need to wait for the 2 A380s after that, at the earliest. They are due towards the end of 2009, or may even slip into 2010.Originally posted by nursalimLPP View PostAwesomeness. My next trip is in apirl to singapore Via NRT hopefully by than it be a388....

That's a fair approximation, but 2 aircraft is not enough to fly SIN-NRT-LAX and back on a sustained basis because of MX requirements. It would work for 6x weekly service. Add something like SIN-HKG to the rotation and 3 aircraft would suffice on a long-term basis.Originally posted by TerryK View PostYou need 2 A380s to fly daily SIN-NRT-LAX and back.

Yes they are but it is kinda strange.Originally posted by YK@HKG View PostA380 flying to Paris....
Paris was a 744 route with 375 seats
Then they change it to 278 on a 77W, reduction of almost 100 seats
Now they want to do A380 with 471 seats, an increase of almost 200 seats from the 77W
Did demand suddenly drop when the 77W came in?
Is demand now very high that it warrants the A380? Or is frequency reduced?
