Looks like MI's long awaited cabin retrofit program is back on track and will be done by October next year.

From today's copy of the Straits Times.

Any correlation to the fact that their Chairman is leaving to join another company...

The story is, SQ needs MI and vice-versa.

And I personally prefer the older economy seats, much more comfortable and more seat pitch.

Having just spent a long weekend in KMG, I was able to try the old MI vs new MI product.

Unequivocally, the old Y is better. More legroom, softer seats.

Not looking forward to the "enhancements"

That's a pretty poor show introducing a new product that's worse than the old one.

                    SIN-KMG old interior

                    KMG-SIN new interior

They're not entirely economical with the truth.

".. new and more comfortable seats with flexible headrests in economy class.. "

Give me softer seats and more legroom anytime..

Havent been on Silkair. Im planning to go BKI and wonder if their J class is worth it.

Not too sure on their service delivery as compared to their "big sisters".

The colors on economy class are similar to SQ, however, I'm not sure it has PTVs on the new seats. Well the pitch size looks like Air Canada's A320 I flew to YYZ from LAS, and same as I flew home from YYZ-SFO. Air Canada has PTVs though

If you need the legroom then yes J class is worth it. Especially on longer flights ( like KMG ).

Different but nice. No complaints from me on this score.

No PTV. Just overhead monitors that drop down. Headphones not provided... not even in J.

Wow you'd know how bored I'd be for 4 hrs up to TRV. but seriously if it was EK I'd be using PTVs on their A330s to TRV. Oh well, one day MI will revolutionise

Are you being prevented from bringing any form of personal entertainment (reading material, MP3 player, computer / tablet, etc.) with you? Are you on some kind of blacklist or something?

Flw CEB-SIN on their new Y. Ironically, the old Y is better. I agree with the rest, give me more legroom and softer seats rather than adjustable headrests. I don't really find this an improvement though
