Wasn't SIN-HKG-SIN going to be withdrawn for the A380? For use on SIN-ZRH?

    Thanks.
Personally I found the upper deck claustrophobic, but that is just my opinion, even though I had a seat without a row infront of me near the rear of the aircraft. Booked a seat on the main deck on my return to Perth on the 14th November.

The window seats on the upper deck are 2 abreast due the taper of the fuselage. Other than that, hardware is the same

Singapore Airlines had begun work on the cabin interior of the new A380 more than 5 years ago. Aiming to provide our customers with the best travel experience, we started the development of the cabin interior by asking our frequent flyers what they would like to see on the new aircraft through a series of customer surveys, feedback and workshops. In addition to the conceptualisation stage, customers’ views were also sought in various stages from prototype testing to the selection of cushions.

With customers’ comments in mind, our team have gone through numerous design options before finally arriving at the seat configuration and cabin interior we have now.

As a trendsetter and industry leader, our luxurious A380 cabin interior is also a reflection of Singapore Airlines’ philosophy of product innovation and our relentless pursuit of excellence.

A380 gave us many intriguing design options, we’ve developed our A380 cabin interior with the comments and feedback of our customers and frequent flyers in mind.

Though having bars, showers and other such facilities in the aircraft sounds interesting, from our customers surveys and feedback sessions, we found that what customers really want during a flight is more personal space, comfort and privacy. We chose to give the space to customers, especially in the premium cabins, instead of locking it away in gimmicks that may only be briefly used by some customers on a flight.

We are committed to constantly innovating and improving our product and service offerings to provide our customers with the very best premium air travel experience even in the face of recent challenges faced by the airline industry. We continue to listen to our customers and involve them in our product development processes to ensure that the new products and services exceed customer expectations.
Its nearly two years that SQ started flying their A380's and with more added to the fleet, the configuration is showing its age. Its a great plane, and certainly lots of potential. Two years down the line, I wonder if SQ has come up with more ideas; with user experience on the current configuration, I must say that there are positives and negatives. Privacy has certainly been enhanced with the cubicles in Biz and Suites in First, but with the extra space, I wonder whether it has been utilised to the full to help us frequent travellers utilise our time fruitfully during an extended flight. I must say that apart from these factors, nothing much has changed or is different.

The downside of more space and privacy, in my humble opinion is the sacrifice of sufficient ventilation within the " business cubicles". The sleeping posiiton at an angle and having to get the bed made is sometimes "frustrating". Then, in spite of increased seating in Biz, the number of toilets available is a real problem especially getting in to land after a sleep!

The First Suites are great! If only the Biz has a lesser version of these!!

Whether a *A livery is flown on an A380 is anyone's guess. Personally I don't think so.

Unless SQ reneges on their A380 orders, we probably will see a 9V-SKT.

SQ skipped 9V-SKO when the SK* registrations were used for the 747-312s.
I was looking at the spreadsheet from airlinerlist.com and indeed they skipped 9V-SKO. However, the 743s also skipped 9V-SKI whereas a whalejet has been delivered with such a reg, if I'm not mistaken.

Oh well, who knows what letter SQ might skip...

They obviously weren't the last as there was/is an SWB, SWD, SMW and SMY. I'm sure there are more.
I read that they skipped 9V-SWC to avoid having to write "WC" on the nose landing gears which in Europe means "toilet" (water closet?). Maybe they avoided "MX" as many take it to mean "maintenance"? Anyway, I'm curious if there is any reason to skip 9V-SKL/M/N/O/P/Q/R/S, such that we may have a 9V-SKT.

When the jumbos finally leave, perhaps they will transfer the Star Alliance scheme on one of the A380s?

I ask because a certain model maker, albeit known to make fantasy models every now and then, is making a model of an SQ A380 with Star Alliance color scheme and registered 9V-SKT.
    http://www.aviation-collection.fr/ma...ct-1387878.htm

SQ only has 19 A380s on order and if they don't skip one letter, registrations will stop at 9V-SKS.

Wasn't the trailer video released with the 77W seats? I downloaded that same video when the 77W was launched.

...talking of establishing the best-seating aboard the 380, a colleague and I (both regular J travellers on the whalejet) were trying to figure out which seats (and which part of the cabin) are actually shown on the trailer video found on the SQ website. For sure the seats shown are obviously marketed to look the most spacious in the cabin, whether they exist was our question.

    https://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_...?v=-285249429&

We came to the conclusion that perhaps an aircraft mock-up was used, as the window seats without a seat in front (extra legroom) are rows 11 and 17, yet in reality rows 11 does not have 3 windows, equally row 17 is not 3 rows before a bulkhead as shown on the trailer. As many of you will recall this trailer is the same as the "deploying your bed" video used onboard.

From my experience stick with 15A, 14A, 11D or F (I agree with previous posts about row 11) or 18D or F

    1. What seats should be avoided besides Row 11? (e.g. missing window, narrower seat, etc)

    2. Seats in Row 11 are relatively narrower. Does Row 17 seats have the same narrow width like Row 11?

    3. Does Row 17 seats have the same foot-rest configuration like Row 11 and 14 on the B77W?

Thanks in advance for your responses.
    1. It's a misconception that all Row 11 is bad. 11D and F are quite nice, they're normal width and you don't get windows in the center anyhow. It's 11A and K that you should avoid.

    2. No. The narrow width for 11AK are due to fuselage taper. Row 17 does not have the same issue.

    3. Yes. It's similar.
