  • RTW question: itinerary allowed?

    Hello everyone, I was thinking about booking an SIA-only RTW ticket- and I have never booked anything like this before. I was wondering if I can get some advice on whether my planned itinerary is allowed. If it is, if anyone knows the accompanying fare for a first class RTW, that would also be of great benefit. My hope is to do the following:
    TPE-->SIN via SQ(transit)-->MXP via SQ(stopover)-->BCN via SQ(stopover)--> Eurorail through paris to Frankfurt-->JFK via SQ (stopover)--> domestic flight to LAX-->NRT via SQ (stopover)-->SIN via SQ(stopover)-->MEL via SQ(stopover and separate one-way ticket via air new zealand)-->PPT (separate one-way ticket via air new zealand)--> LAX

    Thanks so much for any information!

    As much we like, MXP-BCN is not doable on SQ.

    Not sure if the rules allow but there's a BCN-FRA codeshare.

      2. MXP-BCN no traffic right AFAIK
      3. FRA-JFK westbound atlantic LAX-NRT westbound pacific, then last point is LAX and have to go back to TPE, i.e. another westound pacific crossing (not allowed)

            thanks a lot keithmel... this is much more complicated than i had anticipated... do you suggest i go through a travel agent? or should i contact singapore air and try and have them create an itinerary for me?

              i think i will just base my travel out of singapore, which is probably easiest. my proposed itinerary would then be:
              sin--> barcelona via SQ (stayover)--> travel within europe ending up in frankfurt--> JFK via SQ (stayover)--> fly domestically to LAX--> NRT via SQ (stayover)--> SIN via SQ (transit)--> MEL via SQ (stayover)--> buy one way ticket via air new zealand to tahiti and buy separate one-way ticket to auckland (stayover)--> SIN via SQ. travel on sq metal totals a little under 29,000 miles. does this look like a feasible plan?

                  Not sure about this RTW but on a RWSTAR, going back to your origin (SIN in this case) ends the ticket.

                        I remember I asked SQ to plan this SQ-RTW only. I was not able to do SIN-SYD-SIN because "backtracking is not allowed." So the possible routing SQ gave me was something like this:
                        LAX-NRT-SIN-LHR-FRA-JFK

                        Another factor to consider: this type tix only has 3-months validity while the STAR-RTW has a year validity,

                          That depends on the market. The ex-Australia version of the SQ RTW is valid for a year.

                              The ex-SIN version of the rules also do not permit travel to South West Pacific. It doesn't make sense because the same fare is offered exMEL. So unless I'm reading the rules wrongly, you can't do SIN-MEL on that fare.

                              Run it through SQ to make sure to make sure. I don't think there's any advantage booking a RTW with a TA as it'd just be the same published fare and you might be hit with a service fee.
