Ever since this incident, I am very reluctant to fly on an A380.

Wow, very similar to the incident on SKE and looks like this happened in 2010. Like in this trip, crew continued on thinking this is a minor issue. Feels like telling Airbus/SQ/door manufacturer "Fix the d*** door".

i am reluctant to board a380 too, but not because of any accident, but due to a lot of people. I prefer smaller plane, and I normally opt for A333 or B77W if I can (but in case of 772/773 vs 388, I'll choose 388)

So we send a replacement aircraft without replacement crew?

Door seal might be an issue for the A380. Emirates flight in Feb 2013 had a somewhat similar incident mid air though one of the passengers account is very exaggerated LOL in the daily mail news in the first post in the link below

Hilarious reading. If ever I'm interviewed by a journalist about a flight I was on, I'm going to demand that they also use the phrase 'on what was meant to be a trip of a lifetime' so that the mentally feeble will feel sorry for my plight.

I'm in a good mind to write to the Daily Mail and tell them about the time I was "trapped" in London for a week because SQ did nothing to seal up a volcano in Iceland. They could have used gaffer tape and blankets!

There are significant numbers of plane arrival/departure mismatches on iCargo suggesting that there might be a lot of scrambling around for available craft happening on the ground in Changi. Situations like this would not be much fun for operations staff I imagine.
Do you have any idea how long the equipment changes will go on for and which sectors will be affected?

For that, one would need inside sources.

Some interviews from razortv. Pretty mild, no rants.

The one with the most details.

Why do I watch these videos which I know will make me paranoid a few hours before my flight with the A380(reg. "SKI") .. LOL

Hopefully after this incident more detailled door seal inspections\checks are carried out on the ground ...

It seems that PVG has been selected to deal with the equipment swaps generated by an A380 out of action. SQ836/825 has been operated 5x weekly by A380 recently, which is now 'on hold' if flight records are anything to go by.

Obviously some unlucky port has to be chosen but I sure hope nobody was booked into suites last night when 9V-SRJ taxied up to the gate!

Having read a few comments by the passengers on the flight who wwere concernedwith the very loud noise coming from the door and apparently one person who mentioned that he asked for the Chief Steward to inform the tech crew about it but the CS did not see him till quite sometime later and was not sure if the complaint was even communicated to the flight deck.
Similiarly as quitea number of passengers were concerned about the noise, waswondering whether the cabin crew themselves were concerned enough to inform their CS or IFS to inform the tech crewto come down and takea look asapprently none of the tech crew came to check on the very noisy door due to the air leakage. Were the cabin crew and tech crew lack the awareness of the situation until the aircraft cabin depressurises? Apparently the plane 's door in question was already fairly or very noisy when it was on the way from SIN to LHR, that it was written up and the ground engineers came aboard when it landed to take a look at the door and its seals. However, they "found nothing wrong and the seals were good to go". However the ground engineers did not do a pressurisation test of the plane on the ground but essentially just a check on the door. This was also SIA's PR releases to the press and they did not address the issues of why the crew did not do anything or return to LHR due to the loud noise emanating from the door.
This reminds me of my flight onboard a A380 from SIN to HKG abt 2 years back and there was this fairly loud noise from one of the doors - think it was on the right side(?).
As some have suggested perhaps this issue of door seals in theA380is not new.
