They do have 777-300's & 777-300ER as well.

My bad - I meant to say all of SQ's 777-200's are the ER models...

I don't know how/why/what exactly, but SQI and SRN are apparently different from the other SR* and SQ* 772s and they are the ones that can fly as far as NZ under normal conditions, as well as all the SV* series, of course.

The engines have been rated back to 777-200ER

Problem for us but not for SQ is for SQ on the routes to MXP, FCO and CPH there is no competition for direct flights. Therefore they are able to send these planes on these routes as there is no alternative unless there you transfer. On the shorter routes where they send the retrofitted or new planes it is due to heavy competition. I am sure if AZ sent a 772 to SIN from FCO then this route would be upgraded to something like a 333 and if demand is high enough then a 77W

The demand isn't as high as for places like Zurich, LHR and CDG so they can't justify a 388, whilst CDG has competition from AF and LHR big competition from BA and QF.

Off the topic a bit although it's not direct booking the overnight 388 to Zurich with SQ then the connecting flight to London City looks like a very good option which you can book on Swiss Air website as City is much better location and 10x nicer than LHR

SQ uses 777-300ERs to MXP... Milan along with Barcelona, were the third destinations to receive the 77W in 2006 (after Paris and Zurich)

FCO is, in some ways, a backwater airport. It doesn't have great connections to cities outside of continental Europe, so I guess I can be happy that an airline the quality of SQ offers a direct flight.

Just arrived back in FCO from SIN. This time had 9V-SVO. Passenger load was pretty light and had a row to myself. Again, flight attendants seem to really go out of their way to attend to economy passengers.

True. Italians (and most Europeans) are definitely cutting back on travel. Not sure if Asia/Oceania residents are foregoing trips to Europe.

The Greeks here in oz are going to Greece. Helps that the dollar is doing well against the euro
