Scoot makes maiden flight to Sydney

SINGAPORE: Singapore's first long haul budget carrier Scoot will finally take to the skies with its inaugural flight to Sydney on Monday night.

The flight is scheduled to depart from Singapore Changi Airport at 11.25pm and will arrive in Sydney at 9.20 on Tuesday morning.

And it will be a full flight, with about 400 passengers onboard.

The first flight comes after months of preparation, which saw the aircraft-bought from Singapore Airlines, being refitted.

This meant doing away with more than two tonnes of entertainment equipment to make way for iPads.

Doing so, means a lighter plane where less fuel is used.

Scoot said this has been one way it's been able to save costs in view of higher fuel prices.

Guess I would still prefer Jetstar's seats on its A332s....

I guess I would prefer JQ's product too, but you kinda have no choice in MEL! With comparable prices in their 'Premium' cabins I would definitely choose JQ.

I find it quite odd that they didn't reveal their seats to the public before they brought the tickets, how do they know what they will be sitting on for the next 8 or so hours ? I wouldn't book 'mystery seats', thats something my back doesn't want to gamble on lah

            • no leg rests in the 'business' seats. thumbs down. JQ is much better

              • Now, if ScootBiz could eventually clock to SQ's FFP + Elite Status, it would really be interesting

                Love It

If GOD created me for only 1 reason. That reason would be to the love of my wife. If there was any other reasons involved, that would be for the love of Singapore Airlines

That's why I never buy into their bait.
Waiting for the first trip reports.

2-4-3 Econ is definitely my no-no for a flight of this length. But for biz, if the price is right, why not? Provided is much cheaper than Air Asia's much more superior biz product.

For MEL, will stick to Jetstar

                          • Passengers, however, did not seemed too bothered as the crew served them milk and cookies.
                            The best line!

This morning's Business Times didn't mention the delay, claiming the aircraft left as scheduled at 11.25PM

                              Yup, plane went tech.
Some pax was blogging from Twitter.
OTC is now known as Only To Changi, Oh Tech Crap, Oreos to Chew, On Time Cockup, Oh the Chaos.

Would have been interesting if MX weren't able to fix the tech problem? Would they bring out the other plane or just dump the pax completely?
