Scoot, Singapore Airlines' new budget carrier, will fly to Sydney from the middle of next year.

Scoot will fly once daily from Changi Airport Terminal 2 to Sydney. Its flights will arrive and depart at midday in Sydney.

        • Mid-Day arrival into SYD means middle of the night departure from SIN. YIKES!

Timings should be similar to SQ231

            • Interesting development and will mean SYD gets a lot more consideration as a holiday destination. Bring on the competition... let the cannibalisation begin!

                  Nit picking here...

                  But mid-day = noon
                  Therefore 12pm arrival = 0215 dep

We have to see this based on the S12 timetable which is winter downunder.

SQ231 departs at 0035 and arrives at 1020.

For Scoot to have a midday arrival, it probably has to depart after 0215.

                        • interesting that sccot 1st destination is Sydney - as not like MEL or Gold Coast - and be interestingto see if scoot flies to either Beijing or Shanghai as its inaugural to China market. Whatever it is, Scoot will put a dent into its parent - SQ as am sure some esp holiday travellers will not mind scoot due to its supposedly lower fares.

                            • Scoot favours a low risk market with little competition

Scoot's selection today of Sydney as its first destination from its Singapore hub is a solid move from Singapore Airlines' new low-cost long-haul carrier. Scoot previously said it was looking to initially concentrate on Australia and China. There is no existing low-cost long-haul service from Singapore to Sydney or fifth-freedom rights from Emirates, unlike at Australia's second largest city, Melbourne.
