Reading between the lines, clearing Paya Lebar is to free up space to house 6.9M population.... as is moving the port to Tuas....

Not sure you can fit 6.9m people in Paya Lebar but after having a look at Pinnacle@Duxton, it might not be too far away.

Moving the port, whilst freeing up hugely expensive sea front land, is more about consolidating activities in one place, boosting efficiency, getting trucks out of the centre of SG and is a good excuse for scrapping so much old equipment around Tanjong Pagar that must be 20-30yrs old now.

Changi take note......all in one place to consolidate activities, boost efficiency and scrap old equipment.

What i meant is not that the air force will be doing exercises around the airport - but that the air force planes will be taking off and landing during exercises or training from the airport - if you do go down to Ubi or Ponggol now where Paya Lebar airport is nearby, one would see and hear fighters and transport planes be buzzing through daily and at odd times at night when night training is done. One can often see F15s coming in to land and taking off and lumbering C130s flying even in loop around the airport.
hence when the air base is relocated to Changi after 2030, one would expect airforce planes doing the same - and as the runways are all running parallel to each other, and not all aircrafts can use the 4 runways simultanously at the same time for take-off and landings - hence flights will be disrupted somewhat with the air base just next to Changi.

Such a shame they didn't send you a draft a few weeks ago so you could have pointed all this out to them.

Scrapping stuff that is just 20 years old ?. You cannot possibly work in the marine industry.

I think Changi will only have 3 runways for commercial use. The forth runway will most likely be used for military activities only, as is 02R/20L now.

Sometimes, you do get military planes taking off and landing at 02L/20R for access to Changi Airbase (West). Not much disturbance to traffic though

actually, apart from Changi West AB (KC135s and F50s) a currently operational Changi EAST AB is operating F16s from the future 3rd runway, in almost the same alignment as the current 2 civilian runways. So i'm sure the ATC have worked out all the possible issues. Besides, PLAB is not the only RSAF base around; Tengah has scope for expansion too i imagine.
