at this time SIN actually have 5 airports and if includes the Changi naval base and its adjoining runway then its 6 - but the 5 are Changi, Paya Lebar (till after 2030), Seletar, Tengah and Sembawang airbase.

Originally posted by flyguy View Postyes the current Air base at Changi is only home to 6 F50s and 4 KC-135s and their limited use of the current runways do not pose much disruptions. However in future the whole Paya Lebar air base will be moved to Changi and taking into account the military transport planes and the fighter squadrons will be moving over, there will be alot more military aircrafts using the adjacent new military runway which parallels the 3 commercial runways.

Originally posted by flyguy View PostWhat i meant is not that the air force will be doing exercises around the airport - but that the air force planes will be taking off and landing during exercises or training from the airport - if you do go down to Ubi or Ponggol now where Paya Lebar airport is nearby, one would see and hear fighters and transport planes be buzzing through daily and at odd times at night when night training is done. One can often see F15s coming in to land and taking off and lumbering C130s flying even in loop around the airport.
hence when the air base is relocated to Changi after 2030, one would expect airforce planes doing the same - and as the runways are all running parallel to each other, and not all aircrafts can use the 4 runways simultanously at the same time for take-off and landings - hence flights will be disrupted somewhat with the air base just next to Changi.
Sometimes, you do get military planes taking off and landing at 02L/20R for access to Changi Airbase (West). Not much disturbance to traffic though
