  • Next A380 destination: Nagoya!

Just received an e-mail from SQ:
Experience A380 flights to Nagoya on 09 & 13 August 2014 and be a part of
    history!
    Any first flight flyers?

Ah... the annual Obon festival. Lots of ex-JP traffic.

ONLY 9th and 13th? Two very specific days does seem rather short, or is it a commencement?

I can foresee tickets might be hard to get seeing as 9Aug is part of the long weekend.

But speaking of which, time to convince my boss I'm gonna need another well-deserved rest in August.

i believe it is only for those 2 dates to NGO

DEL and BOM will be the next destinations with A380

Where are the A380's coming from. I was under the impression they were quite fully utilised.

I get the opposite impression, given they usually have at least two out of service at most times, but maybe that's for heavy maintenance?

I think there are gaps between current flights though, where perhaps a shorter flight could be slotted inbetween, e.g. the plane arrives in SIN at 6am and isn't due out again until midnight.

With these ad hoc assignments like the Nagoya one, SYD usually loses one of its two daily A380 flights and gets given a 77W instead.

Does anyone know if there are any destinations likely to LOSE their current A380? Here's a radical idea- replace SQ25/26 with two 77Ws, one of which does not perform the FRA-JFK-FRA leg.

CDG has currently lost it for a 77W.

I flew SQ333 out of CDG 2 weeks ago. Very empty up the back in Y.

MEL lost the A380 last night for a 77W, but back to A380 tonight when I flew SQ228.

Am about to board an A380 at T3 for ZRH and it occurred to me, would BOM and DEL be the first SQ destinations with an A380 out of T2?

Was the 77W for SQ227? Loads for the flight becoming lighter?

Before T3 was around, A380 flights to SYD were from T2.

The 77W was a once off for SQ227/8 but it was at the same time as SQ207/8 not operating, so I think MEL loads are going through a light patch during the week. Weekends the traffic is probably still high.

                            A380 to Nagoya?

I picked up SQ timetable in Nagoya before boarding SQ671 on 11 April 2014, and i stumbled across a piece of information which states that Nagoya will get A380 service only for two days in August 2014 (specifically on 09 August 2014 and 13 August 2014). Anyone heard this? I guess this will be the first time SQ A380 in Nagoya...
