My EG status was due to expire end Feb this year, and I was only at 37k elite miles. In March, I was advised by SIA that I was now on ES.

I sent them a message via the SIA wesbite about this. A representative sent me an email within 2 days offering to extend my EG status and also qualification period till end Aug.

Very nice of them. I only need another 4k as of today.

I think I also got excess elite miles from the past year credited into the present year. Just only a little more than 2000 miles, but I thought that was a nice touch if it was that and not an error.

        Me too!

        I've received this email too...

        Dear Mr Leo,

Your current Elite Gold membership year is nearing its end and we would like to offer you a special opportunity to renew your Elite membership early.

Simply take an eligible flight in any class of travel on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir from 1 November 2009 until the end of your current membership year in December 2009 and renew your KrisFlyer Elite Gold status for another membership year.

Although KrisFlyer Elite Gold membership renewal requires at least 50,000 Elite miles to be earned during your membership year, we are extending this exclusive opportunity to you in appreciation of your support for Singapore Airlines.

As part of your Elite Gold membership benefits, you will enjoy 25% tier bonus on the actual miles flown, access to hundreds of lounges worldwide, priority check-in, extra baggage allowance, priority reservation waitlisting and priority airport standby.

Please do remember to quote your KrisFlyer membership number when you make your flight reservation and present your membership card at the check-in counter every time you travel.

We look forward to welcoming you to another year of KrisFlyer Elite Gold membership.
        Yours Sincerely,

        Eileen Hia
        Manager Loyalty Marketing
        Singapore Airlines

        T's & C's
        • Flights on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir must be mileage-accruable to be eligible for this offer.
        • V, Q, G, N or T booking classes on Singapore Airlines are not eligible.
        • V, Q, G, N, T, W or L booking classes on SilkAir are not eligible.
        • Miles earned must be credited to your KrisFlyer account.
        • Travel must be completed by the end of your current membership year in December 2009.
        • This offer is open to eligible members only and cannot be transferred.
        • Renewed Elite Gold membership will be valid for 1 year from your current membership year ending in December 2009. Thereafter, to retain your Elite Gold membership, you will need to accrue at least 50,000 Elite miles within your Elite membership year.

I earned 40k miles within Feb 2009 and credited all miles to Asiana, and now I have *G (Diamond) on Asiana till Feb 2013

My miles credited to Krisflyer this year as of today stands at 16,865...

Seems that times are tough for SQ??

          Lucky you

I'm still waiting for SQ to send me that magical email. I'm 6 months into my current cycle but almost reaching 50k. Guess SQ isn't too bothered about me.

It seems they're offering it to members about a month away from the end of their membership year, who will fall short of requalification. I think you don't fit that description of the target segment.

The strange thing is I got the similar email about a year back with the same deal except back then I didn't take advantage of it and had to earn *G the hard way.

My best guess is that there is a certain threshold circa 40,000 miles that they use as a guideline.

Afterall, if you're already at 40k miles 1 - 2 months prior to expiry, "most" people would do a MR to renew...

But then again, I could be sorely mistaken...

I got one of these emails last night. I'm an Elite Gold, with my membership due to expire in February. At the moment I've only got 26.5k elite miles, no PPS value either!

I must admit I was a bit stunned. Funnily enough I'm doing a RTW in a few weeks and will more than make up the extra 24.5k miles required for EG renewal. I'm surprised they didn't check my future bookings?

Still it's nice of them to offer!

I wonder whether this offer applies to flights on MI or otherwise..

got my letter also last night for expiry end of Jan. I will probably credit 1 sector in the next 2 months to keep the gold status for a year, good as a backup for BD should they vanish (and not merge with LH's program, in which case you would hope for a status match)

there's nothing more rewarding than flying for free, is there??

That's standard, they wont send the 1 flight offer until 2 months out. Your letter is the standard one showing you where you are up to.

I just got exactly the same email, from 23:12 on 25/12/09.... and I have about exactly the same number of miles as you. My membership also expires April 30th.
