How fortunate, then, that they were on a plane with suites - how would they ever have managed on a 747?

And I wonder where the other cabin crew members went for their rest... It seemed to be the same three cabin crew members throughout the flight.

[QUOTE=Mr H;84480]That's not strictly true. You can also travel in Suites if you are cabin crew on that flight - on my one and only R flight, various cabin crew made dens in the empty suites.

I would rather go on a 744 than a 380 any day. Reasons are - 747 has exclusive cabin; A380 allows tourists to wander in from other cabins to have a look. The food is the same. The lounge is the same. The seat on a 744 is more adjustable and more comfortable. You can see other people. The service is better and more attentive on a 744. The cabin looks and feels nicer and more spacious on a 744. Window seats on a 744 are near enough to the window to see out. Burgundy is a nicer colour than gold.

They are now willing to refund my 105K miles in full if I choose to cancel.

They should call me on Monday with an outcome. Will let everyone know how it goes. I think they definitely are trying to tire me out so I will give in. It is kind of working as I feel like I am dealing with robots that just go back to the same line 'we don't have First nor any redemptions for suites in A380'...

It is kind of sad that an airline treats their customers with such disdain and contempt...

I told her this was not good enough and I would consider taking more affirmative action. She said SQ has never reprotected F class redemption to Suites - I told her this was total rubbish citing the upgauge change to A380 on SYD , NRT, LHR and now CDG flights. She said such pax would've been downgraded to J Class! Her colleague Vincent confirmed in a previous call that in fact such pax were reprotected to Suites.

She further said that SQ has every right to conduct schedule changes and no flight is ever guaranteed. I said sure I agree with that but an airline has the obligation to reprotect on:
    * a flight closest to the original departure time
    * in a cabin that is equal or better to the original one booked if such a cabin is offered
    * alternatively provide a full refund if these options are not possible or not suitable to the pax

I was rebooked from First 77W leaving at 1750 to old First 744 leaving at 1130.
...she is now once again referring it to managment. It is really like dealing with Robots. I will wait til Monday when they are meant to be calling me back - otherwise I am probably just going to let it go. It is not worth all the hassle and it is causing be too much stress. I am so appalled by SQ over this I doubt I would want to fly them again,
I am confused. So now they are willing to downgauge you to B744 first (saver) or business, and to refund you the difference in miles, but not to cancel the booking and give you a full refund? Is that even legal?

Well I guessed R Class is ready beyond F. It is even more exclusive NOW that there less passenger in that cabin in the age of the credit crisis. I am sure some people can afford it and willing to pay for it....but I am not one of those whether it is "and" or "or".

I was basically very firm and said the only thing I will accept is the SQ222. I also mentioned the SIN-CDG upgauge to A380 and that in fact they do reprotect from F to Suites.

I also mentioned that I find the whole matter highly discriminatory - am I not good enough for SQ to travel in suites? SQ's attitude towards suites borders on paranoia - what are they really trying to protect? Their exclusivity is actually very off putting.
So, what's the conclusion of this saga?

SQ (management) is all high and mighty - especially in Singapore. Which is why its so sad to see the real people who suffer - the staff.

The very issue with this redemption is that it is a Krisflyer redemption and that well, is controlled and dictated by SQ. They cannot see the reasoning why you insist on going on that flight. They cannot see the timing issue.

Now other people who got switched from a 747 to 388 is when the aircraft changed but its still the same flight. They have to honor that. But the reasoning behind a cancelled flight flight is different - at least in SQ's eyes.

Typical SQ - they would rather leave an empty seat than to fill it up with possible revenue (even if its their own FFP).

Stay your ground. Keep fighting. And maybe write into Straits Times!
I agreed. Not only write to the Straits Times but also the free paper Today. Today has been publishing a series of interesting articles about SQ and how they upset their customers flying economy class.

Managers - no use to send to them - cos they still have to answer from the 'top'. The best case is to publically humiliate them...
