Chinese names always start with the surname, in both written and spoken Chinese. It's in the phoneticized version that sometimes the surname comes after, if the name owner decides to adapt it for a particular country.

I plan to use my miles on TG for SYD-FCO trip in June - TG are normally quite good at releasing O class seats and I've found their First with only 10 seats on their 744s to be superb - I know TG service is more traditional and maybe not as refined as SQ but it is still a great First product.

As to writing a letter to Mr Seng I have thought about it and I think I might just do that and let them know not only about my experience with this booking but how it is beyond absurd their protectionist and elitist attitude towards their Suites which frankly are becoming a 'white elephant'. My profession is Aviation Consultant specifically on airline product and planning - the strategy SQ has adopted for the A380/77W in their Premium cabins in terms of pricing and frequent flyer redemption is now largely working against them.

Hopefully Mr Seng will reply but I am not holding my breath...

    Will keep you guys posted...

    Cheers.
In Singapore, the best way to get a response is to write to the local presses. This will be read by the various stakeholders. Although I am not sure if you like to mention that you are an Aviation Consultant as this may affect your future biz.

Chew Choon Seng is the Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines. Complaints to his attention definitely get attention, especially if they are for a reason.

Write to him about your disappointment and that this let to your cancellation and include a copy of your new booking on Qantas. You will have a response in less than ten days.

    Address is:
    Airline House
    25 Airline Road
    Singapore 819829

I am now booked with QF on their suites A380.

...thanks again for all your suggestions and encouragment - it was greatly appreciated.
I hope you find ways to dispose of your 105k miles though. Otherwise, they would have achieved their goal of getting your business in the past, without you having a chance to use the credit (basically) that you have accumulated.

I would have suggested writing to Business Traveller magazine but they've got them in their pocket so they don't print many letters criticising SQ.

Do you guys think it's worth writing a letter to Mr Yap Kim Wah who is SQ's Senior VP Product+Services - I highly doubt he would even get it or probably even bother reading it. I don't know which fax number to send it to.
My suggestion is not to write to the gentleman as it is a waste of good time. I guessed they must be charging you double the mileage for that A380 Biz class seat. Look at whether TG or Oz has availability first before canceling your booking. By canceling you might be working to their benefit. Like what they say, best to vote with your wallet.

That must be your frustration speaking.

I think you'll get a standard canned reply, actually. You might, actually you WILL, get more of a reply if you write an 'open letter' to both them and the Straits Times/Today/every other public newspaper.

If they're offering Biz on A380, are they charging you still the same mileage? Or equivalent of Biz Standard?

They still have not returned my call...but I have to agree with EWR I don't think they will budge on this...

Will call them again for one last try...it is so bad how SQ treat its customers with such contempt while putting on a facade of top notch service. This is true in the air as I've always had very nice flights on SQ but their KrisFlyer is just a total joke run by robotic people.
