  • PPS members greeted by CS?

In my experience, in the past (at least until late 2015), PPS club members were greeted in person by the CS or similar, with a little chat etc.

I have flown 8 long-haul legs with SQ since February this year and have not been given the personal greeting touch. Is this a coincidence or have SQ changed their ways?

    Any thoughts?

It does not really change the quality of their J product but it does add a pleasant note.

I'm not too sure but my wife recently noticed that the FA would put a white SQ bird sticker on the top of our seat ever since we got our PPS. She thinks it's PPS who get this sticker. Can anyone confrim this?

Reason why I say this is to reply Stripakis post is that the last few flights the CS did chat up with me but only after noticing the white sticker on the top of my seat.

I still have no idea the significance of the white sticker

You're right, I have been wondering about this too. It wasn't regular before, but recently it has been very rare, perhaps once in every six flights. When I have a chance I'll ask one of my crew friends.

The white stickers are usually used to indicate special meals. Did you order any of those?
We put labels on people and fight wars over them. If we truly want harmony, we have to get past the labels.

Yeah the white sticker with blue bird are special meals, as far as I'm aware. On equipment with new Wi-Fi (I.e. A350 and new/ refitted 777-300ER) the crew have a tablet system with all pax info. On my recent A350 flight, the IFS went around with the tablet to identify and greet all PPS. On my recent 77WT flight the CS did this.
          Fly well,
          Travel safe,
          And have a pleasant journey.

Initially I thought it was for special meals or do not disturb. But then I did not order any special meals nor request any special requirements so thus the confusion.

FYI this was on several birds a380 a330 b777w. Like I mentioned it was only when the CS saw the sticker.

This is now very inconsistent even in First. Some IFS come and introduce themselves by name. Very rarely they actively offer to be the contact point for any feedback or suggestions.

By and large SIA service still better than others. They are quite proactive. One time for me in F the CS did come up to me to chat but it was quite obvious due to generation gap we had nothing really to relate with. I quickly threw in a joke and we both laughed it off. But I can tell they really try their best which is much appreciated.

I don't like the "they are still better than others" argument. SQ used to be about excellence at all times. The passion the flight attendants displayed combined with the right training, intuition and observance made for fantastic inflight experience. When everything just flows nicely and the crew is just handling anything just very naturally - that's when SQ is at its best.

There are still individuals and teams that can shoot out he lights and when they do, I usually write in to compliment them.

Well,I am not sure if the recent influx of regional cabin crew has anything to do with the slip in cabin services. For the sharp eyed regular travellers, it is not unusual to observe that we are nearing 50% cabin crew strength comprising of Malaysians,Indonesians,Thais (recent large recruitment in last 3 years), Taiwanese,PRCs,Japanese,Koreans and the recent passing out of the very first batch of Vietnamese and Phillipino Cabin Crew has anything to do with the lack of passion or pride in the cabin crew's service.

                      Mr Tan XXX

                      S-2016-05-0396934

                      Dear Mr Tan

Thank you for sharing your experience on SQ323, from Amsterdam to Singapore, on 19 May 2016.

We are concerned to learn that the service rendered by our cabin crew on this flight was not up to your expectations. Your feedback on the used utensils not being cleared in a timely manner and the crews’ lack of presence in the cabin, are well noted. In addition, we regret to know that the crews’ conversations in the gallery caused a disturbance to you and Mr Chew. We acknowledge that the behaviour displayed by the crew was not in line with our usual service standards, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.

As frontline employees of Singapore Airlines, our crew undergo rigorous service trainings to ensure premium service is delivered and we are sorry that it did not come through on this occasion. Please be assured that your feedback has been regarded seriously and has been conveyed to our Cabin Crew Performance Manager. The team of crew serving the section of your cabin has been counselled to be more tactful and sensitive to the needs of passengers. The standards and expectations required of our crew, and the importance of exercising consideration at all times have been reiterated. Through this, we hope to inculcate the correct service mindset in all our employees.

Mr Tan, we appreciate that you cared enough to let us know your experience. It is important for us to ensure premium service is delivered especially to our Business Class passengers and PPS members.

Thank you once again for taking the time to share your observations with us. We value your continued support of Singapore Airlines and look forward to provide you with an improved travel experience in the future.

                      Yours sincerely

The staffing in J cabin on this particular flight are mainly regional crew and they irk me enough to finally muster an effort to provide some feedback regarding the lucksture service and disturbance and I didn't expect such a pathetic reply from an equally lethargic department.

Malaysians have been a large percentage of SQ cabin crew for decades, roughly around or about 40%. Some of the best SQ crew I have flown with are Malaysian and I'd say I know about as many Malaysian crew as Singaporean.

SQ did not do any recruitment in Vietnam or Philippines. Where did you get that idea from?

Information was shared by CS on SQ619 about week ago. It would be interesting if any member of the board here has source to verify details of new entry of this group. it would be really interesting to interact with them proper and it takes a sharp eye to be able to spot one too

I agree with u wholeheartedly on this point,I even dated a Malaysian FSS more than a decade and a half ago and she and her Malaysian colleagues are some of the warmest people I had ever known. In fact I have experienced sincere, warmth service by Thai Crew as well on several occasion and they impress me so much that I left a nice written compliment onboard.

It is probably a game of hit and misses as some of the worst experience are also with regional crew. I don't write online feedback but on that particular flight the crew clearly irritate me enough to warrant a feedback
