QPP and TPP enjoy the benefits of Reserve Value. For QPP, it's valid three years, for TPP, it's valid six years. PPS Value has already been altered to include YQ a couple of months back.
Are you saying Reserve Value is now added to QPP benefits? I don't think it was a benefit to QPPs in the past.
Looks like Reserve Value is only valid for six years for new value earned in 2013 and forward, the previously earned Reserve Value is still only valid for three.

That is a great enhancement to QPP benefits.
Yes, it is. Below is what i received in the mailbox...
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your support for Singapore Airlines. You inspire us to go the extra mile to bring you the best when you travel with us. Thus, your feedback has been invaluable in ensuring that the PPS Club stays relevant and rewarding for our customers. Today, we are pleased to share with you new and exclusive privileges that have been specially designed for you.
In response to your feedback, and in recognition of your continued loyalty, we are delighted to inform you that we will be introducing Reserve Value to all our PPS Club members from today. With this new benefit, you can be assured that the amount you spend in excess of the S$25,000 in PPS Value needed for membership renewal will now be recognised (as Reserve Value) and counted towards your requalification in subsequent years.
Once you have Reserve Value in your account, it will be used first towards the PPS Value of S$25,000 required for membership renewal. If the Reserve Value available is less than S$25,000, your Current PPS Value will then be used to make up the remaining amount required for membership renewal. Any remaining Current PPS Value will be credited as new Reserve Value. As a PPS Club member, your Reserve Value will be valid for three years from the month in which it was credited.
As a further enhancement to your current suite of travel privileges, we will be happy to guarantee your Economy Class booking on any Singapore Airlines or SilkAir flight in either S or Y fare classes up to 24 hours before flight departure. You will no longer need to be waitlisted in First or Business Class, as required previously, before being confirmed in Economy Class.
These new benefits are the latest in a series of improvements to our PPS Club and KrisFlyer programmes including the ability to earn PPS Value on the fuel surcharge component of your Singapore Airlines Suites, First Class or Business Class tickets on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir from 1 July 2013.
We hope that with these benefits, you will continue to enjoy your Singapore Airlines PPS Club membership for many more years to come. For more details on the privileges and benefits of your membership, please log in to your account at krisflyer.com and refer to the ‘PPS Club Membership Guide’.
As we continue to find ways to enhance your membership experience, we look forward to your feedback and continued support. Thank you and we hope to welcome you on board soon.
the arrival benefits are sadly not that attractive to singapore based folk since i would rather head home
I think therefore this is targeted at non-Singaporean residents to get them to choose SQ as a choice airline to differentiate themselves from the home airline/s. I think this is a good marketing strategy to gain share from their overseas customers.
and the enhanced access to saver economy is certainly not as useful as enhanced access to saver upgrades or saver J. the increased length of time for reserve value is appreciated but most of all the very fact that there are any enhancements is remarkable! what on earth is happening?
Have to say, AGAIN, that these are remarkable enhancements after some years of stagnation. Do agree that they should work towards enhanced Saver J or F availability. Competition is very good! Well done, SQ!
As one controlling my own travel spend (biz & pleasure), my $25k p.a. still gets me a lot further on competitive options such as CX, EK, et al.
I was certainly looking for the previous benefit of F lounge access when flying J to be restored, and I'm disappointed that it's not.
At the end of the day, as QPP, I'm personally not incentivised to spend my marginal dollars with SQ. What more do I get over Blue/Elite Silver/Elite Gold? Not much.

Indeed. Once you have a bit of a "nestegg" you have an easier capability of spending your marginal dollars on other options. No?
Pretty clear to me that I won't be getting out of bed to renew QPP and give incremental business to SQ. Which is (I'm assuming) what they hope to achieve...
I also feel they are encouraging those people that are overseas to fly them more, but don't seem to address the singapore based ones. Unless they are doing something else with reserve value, i don't see how extension of reserve value will keep people flying, as it will discourage people from flying, since they can depend on their reserve value longer i feel... they should have another tier to replace life instead of keeping it the same, and makes it less appealing for people to want to attain status....like how Cathay has diamond plus...
As I see it, the extension from three to six years could reflect a recognition by SQ of the realistic length of the business cycle. If people and businesses tend to cut back on (premium class) travel when economic times are bad, having reserve value to draw from could keep them from giving up on retaining high SQ status. Six years enables folks to do this kind of averaging and helps to keep them loyal to SQ.
Doesn't detract from the fundamental question. What does spending $25k on SQ get you?
$25K opens you the door to the very best SQ can offer. Once you are PPS, things can be sorted out very easily and you can rely on SQ being there to help.
In Business and First, SQ is still the best. EK is no competition and CX just a bit out of the way - or do you want to connect via HKG for most of your flights?
This change is not for price-sensitive people like you. SQ is after high-margin customers and they know that they cannot win you over. All you care about is price and that's where they don't have a competitive edge.
Customers that spend more than $25K (and those are the customers SQ like) will like the change because they will like the fact that their additional spend is recognized (even though they might not even need Reserve Value to begin with).

Ooh those people. I geddit...
I've qualified on sectors and I've qualified on PPSV. I still like knowing what I'm supposedly paying for.
