For the new SQ380 cabins, I hear that the true revelation is in the F cabin.
I heard the same. Whether or not one likes it, well that's up to each pax to decide for themself.

Ah...so, I was the one who got all confused reading the article. Thanks for the clarification.

Anyone knows if A380 main deck will be wider than 747. If it is, then the 3-4-3 configuration will mean a much spacious Y class.

In any case, 5 abreast means that at least 1 seat will not have aisle access - and the way the J seats were designed - aisle access is a NECESSITY, not a luxury - ain't gonna happen i think.
You're correct. The WhaleJet's upperdeck is substantially narrower than the 777 and SQ will be fitting business class four abreast upstairs. First class will be four abreast downstairs. It's possible to fit five abreast downstairs (first or business) with 3 aisles, but I don't believe SQ would do that.

SQfg is hardly ever (in fact I don't recall her being ever) wrong, particularly about SQ.

              Completely agree.

Then she has infinitely more luck than I do.

SIA now operates three daily 747-400 flights between Singapore and London. Tan says SIA’s midnight flight from Singapore will be the first to receive the A380 because this flight now has higher load factors than its two daytime flights from Singapore to London. The overnight flight from Singapore lands in London early in the morning and departs London just before noon, arriving in Singapore early the following morning.
So am I right in thinking this is the SQ322/SQ317 combo then? There is good J availability showing for next February. I'm assuming if I cheekily booked on SQ317 next Feb, I might be rewarded with a nice A380 rather than the current listed 744?

SQ first A380 is now furbish with the new cabin!

CABIN FURNISHING FOR FIRST SINGAPORE AIRLINES A380

Cabin furnishing of the first production A380 was completed in early April and is being tested prior to final delivery to Singapore Airlines.

The first production A380 - MSN003- due to enter service with Singapore Airlines later this year, reached the end of the cabin systems test phase on 4 April. Installation of the aircraft’s cabin at the A380 final assembly line in Hamburg was finished on 21 March and since then Airbus’ engineers and systems specialists have been performing a range of tests on the newly installed systems to check that they are working as expected.

The A380 programme team has been working with Singapore’s three on-site representatives throughout cabin furnishing to ensure that they are closely involved in decisions at every stage. And from 5 to 10 April, 30 representatives of Singapore Airlines including senior management are visiting the FAL to gain a comprehensive overview of the aircraft and its cabin systems as part of the customer pre-acceptance phase.

This phase of production has run very smoothly and, while details of the cabin remain secret, those working on the FAL are excited by the results achieved. “We are entering a new world of cabin furnishing,” said Peter Hahn head of the A380 FAL in Hamburg. “This cabin interior looks fantastic and brings a brand new dimension to the onboard experience that Singapore Airlines can offer its passengers.”

Once the pre-acceptance phase has been completed, the aircraft will be painted in the Singapore livery and undergo more systems analysis on the ground before its cabin first flight in the summer to test cabin system performance in the air.

                        Regards,
                        Wings

Would it be possible for the OP to change the title of this thread? It is a bit misleading by having the thumb down next to it. It looks like it has been decided that the new SQ 380 cabin is a let down.

does anyone know when SQ is going to unveil the new first class to the public? Are they going to host a party like they did for the 77W?

Does anybody wonder why First Class is always downstairs (as in the B747) while Business is given the top level (like the upstairs cabin of a B747)? From a status perspective, it would seem logical that the more "private" upper cabin should be allocated to First. I suspect this is very much due to weight considerations?
