Haha fares fell again (ex-SIN but only by 2 SGD lol)

So far the way i've been tracking this:

    SIN-BNE-SIN (Y):
Prior to March 18th: 1281 SGD
    March 18th: 1231 SGD
March 24th (25th in SIN at the time of this posting): 1229 SGD

    SIN-BKK-SIN (Y:
Prior to March 18th: 495 SGD (some days were 695 SGD)
March 18th: 465 SGD (all days)
March 24th (25th in SIN at the time of this posting): 463 SGD

    -------------

BTW did i read the fares correct in my post: http://www.sqtalk.com/forums/showpos...8&postcount=37

That is to say, if I a lower fare gets published I can cancel my ticket (-75 SGD penalty) and then rebook the new fare?

I think the last changes you mention are merely currency fluctuations in the surcharges mate! The fuel surcharges are converted from USD, and airport taxes from the destination country converted from the local currency.

            Fares have just dropped considerably...

Was doing a dummy booking for ICN-ATH rtn on J, end July / beg Aug.

Last week (and before that, of course), price was consistently at 6.8 million Won; this is the SQ price level for this route on J, it has been consistently like that for more than a year now.

Today, surprise, surprise... Same route, same dates... full availability, and a fare of 5.3 million won! (all taxes included)

20% plus reduction, SQ? Just when I was ready to permanently switch to QR...

yeah I noticed that a few days ago as well.

While it hasnt changed the fare for SIN-BKK-SIN (in Y) from the already 463 SGD it is (Flexi-ERSG), the SIN-BNE-SIN fare has.

However only on certain days has the fare dropped; that is to say they finally released the Fleix Saver - W class Y fares. However in my case as I want to travel OUT of singapore on a Friday (May 8th), they still only list Flexi - E class Y fares. (The difference in price is 1096 SGD vs 1229 SGD).

I really wish they would release those class of fares...I would become a very happy panda if they did (as opposed to a sad panda lol)

Why wouldn't they sell W fares for ex-SIN? has it always been like that?

Yup. In the last few years, for mileage accruable tix, they've sold E, Y and S (for Y+ on the 345 flights).

so it is irregular to actually have them available now?...then again that does make sense based on the fact that these were supposed to be on a special limited time seat sale

Oh okay, so also, "E" is the lowest ex-SIN...

You complained and they have listened.

                        Dear Valued Corporate Customer,

Singapore Airlines has introduced a new “one to go” Economy class promotion for sale from 27 March to 17 April 2009.

Our new promotional “W” class fares will be available for individual travelers to 26 exciting destinations. These destinations include Taipei, Shanghai, Melbourne, Paris and Houston. The W class fares offer attractive discounts off our market Economy class fares and have specific minimum and maximum stay requirements depending on the destination.

Please contact your appointed travel agents for bookings and fare conditions. Although this is a market promotion, please remind your agent to input your corporate code on the tickets in order to accumulate the flown expenditure under your company’s corporate account.

We will work towards bringing you more attractive promotions and hope to have your continual support for Singapore Airlines.

                        Best regards,

                        Corporate Team

I really hope it didnt come off as me complaining, it was really more confusion than anything. If I was still a n00b like back in 2007 when it came down to flying, I wouldnt care...but now thanks to Expertflyer, KVS, Flyertalk, and of course SQTalk, I am still a n00b, but not as much as before

This once again proves that knowledge is a burden lol

                          --------------------------

Funny though, every day I checked the fares and yeah on Friday I saw the new price...oddly enough it didnt matter on my dates (May 8th down, returning My 13th). I thought okay, it has to do with me going down on Friday, but alas, when I checked the same duration of dates (ie Friday to a Wednesday) in April 1096 came up as the total cost as opposed to the 1229 I keep on getting. Still going to call SQ Reservations and see if I can get the 1096 fare, and/or will go to Travel Cuts (a hippie-ish travel agent for University / College students) and see if they can "get it"...no harm or foul in trying right...

just checked out something quite curious.... as i went to do a dummy booking the cost of the SQ flight from Melbourne to Tokyo and then Sing to Melbourne is $200 cheaper was $1763 and now $1569....
Ive flown SQ and I adore it

IMHO, SQ can do better than that. It's still relatively expensive, I have seen that kind of pricing during low season last year. However, considering the AUD been sliding down since last year, it may represent some bargain in SGD terms.

PS: There's a thread about fare reductions. I don't think it's necessary to make another one.

Good news! But it is not a big one by any means.
