  • Very highly possible that CDG would be next. SQ will combine the day and night 77W flights into 1 night A380 flight. French-speaking crew are currently undergoing A380 training.

If you're referring to a nonstop service to JFK or EWR - the A380 doesn't have the range for it.

caveat: i.e. doesn't have the range at a meaningful payload.

Don't you know that there are Brazilian crews already trained so the next 380 will go SIN-SYD-GRU ?
Are you serious? Singapore Airlines is going to flying A380 on the SIN-SYD-GRU?

                • Could the SQ A380s do LAX/SFO with full payloads without possible tech stops?

                    Not even close.

Back and forth between SFO and LAX, no problem but the cabotage laws. SFO/LAX-SIN would be challenging with zero payload. IF SQ were to strip out the interiors and just carry air, then the WhaleJets could fly LAX/SFO-SIN year-round without a tech stop. Even SFO-HKG may need to make occasional tech stops, hopefully fewer than the current average of five per year.

                        Source?

                        • Oops. I guess I forgot to refine my question to be more specific. What I meant was perform the LAX/SFO sectors from their stopovers right now, i.e., NRT and HKG/ICN respectively with full payloads. I believe one of the primary reasons CX refrained from purchasing the A380-800 was due to its inability to fly its trans-pacific sectors without tech stops all year round.

Hope not. LAX already has SQ37, the "all C" flight. ASFAIK, LAX is/was not 380 ready. SFO OTOH, is.

SQ1/2 always seems to be packed to the gills, SFO would be the best port of entry in the US for the premiere of the SQ whalejet.

Yup I heard this rumor from SQ cabin crew on other forums. It is possible that NRT-LAX might get it according to the forum speculation.
