  • SQ318 upgauge to daily A380

After checking my booking every day lately in anticipation of an upgauge from 744 to 380, it HAS been changed to a 380. Flight in question is on Oct 7th which is a TUESDAY and so not covered by original upgauge to days 1/3/5/7.
I am guessing this confirms how SKF is going to be used...

Looks like the 'gamble's' have paid off for some.

...and some of us lost by betting on SQ 1/2!!

I do find it interesting that EK is not charging more for their A380. Maybe they'll upgauge their SFO flights

Now I wish I had booked SIN-LHR-VIE instead of SIN-AMS-CPH-VIE

          *cries*

According to KVS it's still listed as a 744 but.... the seat map shows A380 J config and F upgrades are blocked out

Ah there goes my hopes for an A380 upgauge for SQ1/2 in Jan/Feb 09! But I am still gunning for a situation where I fly to SFO on (B747) SQ2 in Jan and then find that the A380 upgauge has come through for my return SQ 1 flight in Feb. But I am not holding my breath. Like they say, you win some and you lose some.

Redemption Booking SIN - LHR - SIN

I booked a First Saver Redemption with a couple of options on the same day a few weeks ago and was waitlisted untill yesterday. I got an e-Mail saying I needed to confirm one or the other flights and got an error code off the website. When I called the Krisflyer they said there had been some problems and they would mail the schedule to me and I would still get the 15% discount for web booking. This they did and I have now been confirmed for R class to LHR and back with a discounted redemption booking!

Singapore Airlines Adds Second Daily A380 Service Between Singapore And London

                  30 July 2008

Singapore Airlines will increase its A380 services on the Singapore-London route to double-daily from 20 September 2008. The Singapore - London route becomes the first in the world to be operated double-daily by the new superjumbo.

The second daily service will depart Singapore as flight SQ 318, and return from London as flight SQ 321. The third daily flight (SQ308 from Singapore, SQ319 from London) will continue to be operated by a Boeing 747-400 for the time being.

does this infer all LHR flights get the A380 before anybody else?

no A380 for SQ 1/2 in the near future?
                  what a rip-off.

Would you elaborate why you make a statement "what a rip-off"?

it is to vent SIA's swindling of the professed A380's deployment on the route SQ 1/2.

Dang, I'm with you. Hope they do SQ1 / 2 before the third LHR flight as I'm holding F awards on 1/2 late Feb early Mar.

No, this implies that LHR will eventually get the WhaleJet for the remaining flights. Other routes may get upgauged first. SIN-HKG-SFO and SIN-NRT-LAX are unlikely to be the last to be upgauged.
