I predict that SQ will refit some or all of 9V-SQI through 9V-SQN, 9V-SRF through 9V-SRQ, 9V-SVA through 9V-SVO, and 9V-SYF through 9V-SYL with the new seats from the 777-300ER. 9V-SYF through 9V-SYL will probably get the same configuration as the 777-300ERs. I guess the announcement may come in September.

Interesting. Don't know how many J will fit into the 772, but on the 300's - to have the same F and J config but same Y config means an 8/42/265 .. which is a pretty steep drop from 18/49/265.

The 777-300 would have 228 not 265 Y seats.

Any, SQ have more of a shortage of long-haul aircraft than regional aircraft. Capacity to Europe is in shortest supply.

Before we get all excited with this news, I'd always defer to Proffy in my SIM class "Quote the source in which you are drawing your statement from". Otherwise all these will all but become senseless generalization.
Can TS provide some source for backup? Or if this is something SQ is supposed to keep hush hush, can the mods advise if this is talkable on the board?

Just to make it clear, this speculation is not based on any inside information that I may or may not have.
Of the four subfleets I mentioned above, I think the most likely to be reconfigured with the new business class would be 9V-SVA through 9V-SVO and 9V-SYF through 9V-SYL.

My Christmas wish list:
New Regional Business Class will be improved Spacebed. More cushion. True Lie flat seat.
They will replace 77W/A380 J seats. Well documented cons in various forums I concur with.
However, I feel SQ branding seems to overcome all reservations. Reminds me of BMW branding. Ugly cars, hopeless iDrive but selling like hot cakes anyway. I just bought one!

These new seats not perfect (I think SQ needs to improve the padding for the sleeping area) but I do feel that they are the best in the industry for now. Well, maybe I am a big person so I do love those wide seats which I feel are very comfortable.

I paid usd 6,700 (in Jan '08) for my ICN-ATH J rtn in Sept '08 on the 777-200ER. If what zvezda predicts comes true, I have no doubt that this price will increase for future travels. I'd dare to say a 20% increase is certainly possible.
Currently there are 30 SpaceBeds on this bird. Changing to 1-2-1 (new J product), means that now 20 people will have to bring SQ the revenue that 30 people used to do so far, if not more.
What worries me most is that since I would love to see the new product installed ino the 772ER, I am one of those who are willing to pay more...
