QF doesn't fly to YYZ either.
that would be a good way...however to assure yourself some sort of service (or whatnot) i suggest flying to Paris or London and then onto Toronto..the bad part is, I believe, you will have to do customs/immigration in London or Paris eh?

I dunno why, but that 4-5 hour flight from Vancouver to Eastern Canada feels very painful after coming off of a SQ flight (i fly in Y class)..but that is just my 1.5 cents...

Yeah in the case i just couldnt justify SIN-EWR on the 345. The way i see it anyways is that im lucky enough to be flying so i can handle sitting in Y this time
minor problem with JFK...Air Canada flys from LGA and EWR to Toronto and Montreal...Porter flies from EWR to Toronto City Centre (ie Downtown)...and oddly enough Air Canada flies from JFK to YYC (Calgary)

If you don't mind flying United (Express), American (Eagle), or Delta (Connect), I believe, then it's all good

As you said you could also go to FRA; according to the Star Alliance PC Travel Tool, LH flies directly from FRA to YYZ)

Yet again another edit: hehe there seems to be quite a bit of options actually...through PVG, HKG (then directly onto YYZ), LHR, ZRH, ICN, etc etc etc

Hmm all these options now! Anything thats AROUND SQ service is good if i cant get SQ. I just refuse to fly Qantas these days, nothing to do with all the recent stuff, but if just had so many bad experiences with them i refused to never fly them again. Very un australian of me But i choose life!

Back on topic! Sorry i made it stray

Same here! Actually I know of many Aussies who won't fly QF prefering either NZ or an Asian based carrier.

I'm planning a trip to LAX and YYC in Y next year and whilst using SQ will mean a bit of a diversion (ADL/SIN/NRT/LAX or ADL/SIN/HKG/SFO/LAX...so get to ride a A380 or via ICN to try the 77W and back YVR/ICN/SIN/ADL), the level of service and experience makes up for it in my book. Also love the chance to have a s/o in SIN.

Now if SQ start a flight out of YYZ that just gives me more options.

the best connected city between YYZ and europe is still LHR. But the last time I flew SIN-LHR-YYZ the layover in Heathrow was over 5 hours and no shower facilities unless you are on BA biz class. So my 2 cents worth is to fly via the continent using LHR as your stop over. From there, you can choose AC or BA. With the e-ticketing, SQ offers the SQ/BA combination as well as SQ/AC combination which is a code share service.
there's nothing more rewarding than flying for free, is there??

What is the latest gossip about SIN-YYZ route?

I am dying to know since it's about time SQ resumes flights to Toronto.

The rumours seem to have die down.

I'd be surprised to see them start any more ULH routes after getting burned on the other two.

It was never a plausible rumor. SQ would need something like a 787-8ER (which is not even really planned yet, let alone announced) to make nonstop SIN-YYZ service economically viable. The A340-500 and 777-200LR are both too large and too fuel-hungry for SIN-YYZ.

Can the 787 fly that far? I thought only B777-200LRs and A345 can do the possible non-stop flight from SIN to YYZ.

In an all Business Class configuration with 90 seats, a 787-9 could operate SIN-YYZ in both directions, but cargo would be minimal going west. I think that would be a good use for SQ's 787-9s, but it doesn't seem to be the plan. SQ could operate daily non-stop service to SFO, LAX, ORD, YYZ, and 2xNYC. A subfleet of 14 aircraft would be required to serve those 6 daily flights plus 1 or 2 CGK turns.

In a 2 or 3 cabin configuration, no currently announced 787 could make the westbound flight 365 days/year with a full passenger payload. However, a hypothetical 787-8ER with the 787-9's thrust and MTOW could do.

Which begs the question. What will replace the A345 services when it's time for their replacement? Will their retirement herald the end of ULH flights by SQ? Hope not!!

Either a 787 or A350. The decision probably won't be made until both are in service with SQ. Perhaps a yet-to-be-announced version.
