9V-SPO in full Transaero colours did a full 3 hours AirTest today and is ready to be delivered to the russian carrier.
9V-SPO was the bird that operated my last flight on an SQ 747-400. If the remaining 3 will be all withdrawn by March 2012, she'll be the last SQ 747-400 for me ever.
The New York JFK - Frankfurt leg for SQ25 on 23 September has been cancelled due to aircraft technical issues. The flight will now depart from Frankfurt for Singapore at a delayed time of 0700hrs on 25 September. The hotline for affected customers in New York is +1 800 742 3333.
Seems like lots of problems with its last few 744s recently. 2 technical issues and cancellations within a month.

9V-SPQ is the offending frame. ETA SIN around 0100 on the 26th; SQ26 of the 25th is perforce set back to at least no earlier than 0200-26th, and it'll probably be later than that.
But it's probably not worth keeping a backup aircraft for the occasional hiccup over a final 4 1/2 months....especially with 17 hours' time at SIN, and 10 1/2 at JFK.

This incident was not due to technical issue. It seems the aircraft got grounded due to a deep gash on its radome from an incident with a step driven by a ramp staff.
She was offending again last night as we were late departing on SQ26 as her APU was playing up. They said it had been too warm to board hence the delay but it had now been sorted.
I have no idea how warm it got at it's peak, but it sure was still bloody hot when we boarded. And of course they were playing around a bit longer before we got the engines running and it started to cool down.
