    • 9V-SMU has been pulled from the active fleet since mid Dec. Awaiting return to lessor.

      • Good riddance!

With 2 x A380's to come around March that will mean another 2 744 are pulled.

I agree. I'm very happy to see the JumboJets leaving the fleet -- not because they are made by Boeing (even though I'm an Airbus fan), not because they are old (they are not so old), but because I know SQ will never put the latest seat and IFE products in them and because newer (Airbus and Boeing) aircraft are quieter and have better air filtration and anti-turbulence flight control software.

Not necessarily. SQ may deploy these JumboJets on other routes for a while. I don't know when they are due to be returned to the lessors or handed over to the buyers. Until then, they may or may not be parked. It will depend on demand. One option would be to keep them for substitutions (a role which the 777-300s seem to be playing now).

          • I will miss the B747-400s dearly! Sobs... Can't they just keep one for fancy?

Not a nice comment with regard to 9V-SMU as some of us have sentiments of it being the 1,000th Boeing 747 and wearing the special livery.

                        • I last flew the SIA 744s when they used to operate to MAA with them. I always remember them parking next to Malaysia's 747. I recalled how huge they were. Then SIA started operating B773s and MAS with their A330. Now, I have no idea.

I wish I took note of the registration numbers of the SQ 744s I flew.

                          • Well, as sad as it is to see the 1000th JumboJet leave the fleet, we all knew it was only inevitable before she (and eventually the other jumbos) leave the fleet. At least I got a chance to fly her before her withdrawal.

                            • Which one has the *A livery again? My first trip to Europe (and on business class) was on her IIRC... Sweet, sweet memories.
