The 772ER has without doubt the worst Y product in the fleet, assigned to 10-11 hour flights to IST or CHC. From a J perspective, the 772ER is almost as good as what's in most A380s- just old IFE and lack of charging and wifi.
The 777-200ER J seats have power sockets.

    • Was wondering whether our new 787s RR engines are affected by the current RR issues and will there be further delays next year in getting more 787s.

      • Just booked a July DPS flight and was pleasantly surprised to be able to choose a 787 flight!

          • Am waitlisted on SQ943 in Aug (confirmed on SQ949 the previous day) so hoping it clears for an extra night in Bali and trying J seat before flying to/ from NRT on 787 in fall.

Besides the deliveries, what's really going to happen to the existing 787 already in SQ's fleet? Will they still operate or be grounded?

Only the Scoot 787s are affected. 78Js are not impacted.

That's good. Either way hopefully they will get the RR resolved soon.

Apparently the RR engine issues only impact engines with "Package C", whatever "Package C" means. Airlines like some of Air NZ's B789 Dreamliners are impacted - in fact Air NZ have had 2x 789 out of action since Dec last year, and that's part of the reason 9V-SVL would be joining Air NZ (albeit temporarily) shortly...

I believe SQ's 78J engines are not the "Package C" type hence they are not impacted. I do wonder how badly is the impact on Scoot though, anyone have any ideas..?

So people who paid for a LCC will get a flat bed in JCL and use the PTV in EYCL?

I believe the in-flight entertainment is not switched on as doing so costs the carrier royalty payments for the media being made available. The screen quality in Y in those old planes is pretty dismal anyway- not to do with size, but in terms of accurate brightness and colour fidelity.
