Reason being, in 2017/2018 they will begin to take delivery of 5 new A380's as 5 others reach their 10 year lease and are returned. These will come with new cabins re-designed from the ground up. That's the product they will retrofit current A380's with.
        Fly well,
        Travel safe,
        And have a pleasant journey.

Wow. Seems like they rather hold on to their 777s that are way older than the 380w

The old 777s are the 772 variants and the old 773 which have all been either refitted or are in the process of leaving the fleet. The refits are really only to extend their life a little while they wait for the A350s.

The only 777s that we are likely to see them keep for a substantially longer period are the 77W fleet (SWA-T) and they are only 2 years older approx. than the A380s they also intend to keep and refit.

Once the A350s start to flow through (unsure of the timeline but there's another thread about it) we can expect to see the really old 777s removed from the fleet.

              • i rather sq have consistent products across their fleet, after all thats what consumers looking for, not those 9 inch screens on one flight and new gen on another

                • The overhead of doing that is considerable, and in truth I suspect the majority of customers don't really think too hard about it before booking.

Would be nice though, I agree!

Do you still get the products ? PJs etc...

                    Did you BTC ?

                    • What is the IFE like on SWJ? Is it like the 77WN or is it the system it had before refit? Have the new seats been installed in Y?

It's common knowledge for SQ fans (and bloggers on SQTalk) that the eastbound flights to Japan and Australia are sleeper flights and you need to BTC if you want to 'maximise' the experience.

For SQ 638, you get PJ and amenity kit and you can BTC if desired. This flight is best enjoyed sleeping - to arrive rested in Tokyo the next morning.

                        • SWG is still out of action, so I'd be surprised after all this time if it wasn't for a refit.

A couple of days after SWJ took to the skies, SWK stopped flying. K comes straight after J.

My conclusion is that they may be set up to have two refits on the go, but have them stepped with each other so that two specialist teams can work between the two craft on the go. Just my guess...

                          • So swj is already refitted to contain pe products?
