Singapore Airlines Increases A380 Hong Kong Operation from late-Oct 2013

Forgive my lameness, but what is NW? I have a F seat in late January HKG-SFO and it'd be awesome if they switched to the 380 by then!

I'm guessing it means "Northern Winter 2013/2014" schedule, i.e. Oct/Nov 2013 through to March/April 2014...?

I've often wondered- what's the deal with 26OCT? Do lots of airports schedule maintenance that day? According to the PDF timetable it would appear many destinations don't have any flights to them on 26OCT.
