SIN-CGK was third busiest int'l route in the world in 2011, according to this Economist article.

      http://www.economist.com/blogs/graph.../daily-chart-8

Perhaps it will now move into the number two slot.

Side note: these flights are filled with business men based in Singapore, commuting to Jakarta, not just better off Indonesians.

I haven't encountered arrival screening for a while now getting off in SIN from CGK. It's been more than 9 months or so. I wonder if this means security screening in CGK international terminal 2 is now better?

I just got it 2 weeks ago. Not just the CGK but it also happened on the BKK, MNL, and SGN flights.

Was on SQ962 outbound from Singapore at 1720h yesterday. J is about 10 pax, very light load for this refitted 773.

964, 962, 966 are only there to pick loads from the other side (inbounds 965, 963, 967)

You are probably right when talking about most Fridays. However, I bet yesterday's loads to/from CGK were also unusually light because Thursday was a public holiday in Indonesia and many also took Friday off, making yesterday the middle of a long 4 day weekend for all intents. Due to this holiday, this week's Wed loads bound for SIN were solid for all 8 flights and likely same for Thurs morn.

booked SQ964 as connecting flight from London few mins ago. What I can't understand is why they put such an aircraft (A330) to this route while relegating some routes (namely Perth, Tokyo Haneda) to a retrofitted 777. Noticed this trend since 2-3 months ago. It seems now all the flights to Perth are using the ugly retrofitted planes.

I'm guessing because of timing and the fact that it is a quick hop and back, they are working with what aircraft happens to be available for that time slot. 77W being sent to CGK is likely due to the same reason, and also for when they had the A345 serve the Jakarta route a long time ago.

ah yes.... I remembered the days of SQ162 using A345. Missed it. Never heard 77W being sent to CGK, but once I was in B744 SIN-CGK SQ162 (replacing A345 ), the very same that took me from London as SQ319
but, still why the downgrading of the aircraft to Perth/Haneda?

77W service is 3x weekly for Q2 2013, so it should be happening now. I have managed to miss this flight timing each time for different reasons. It would have been amusing to get the long haul biz seat for such a short flight.

                      Here are the details.

SQ, instead of getting rid of the A345 completely, how about dedicating a few for CGK runs?

True though plenty of Bahasa still being spoken on the route. Though not as hilarious as SQ38 on Dec 22, 2012 and SQ37 on Jan 3, 2013 (Christmas holiday period). It was like a meeting of JKT & SIN Indonesian HighSo and "selebriti" onboard an A345 with maybe 20% Singaporean Chinese and Ang Mo (Bule) thrown in for good measure. Looking at the ladies it felt like a competition for which Tai Tai had the fanciest Hermes Birkin or Kelly Bag (Note: Aligator version with some serious "bling" on it won as per my GFs assessment)

Haaaa, so true around holiday periods. I have had the same experience during the busy travel days surrounding the holidays after Ramadan. LAX flight too. You arrive in SIN and when you go to your CGK connection, you will see half the load from SQ 37 on your flight.

that reminds me something. I am booked on 29 July CGK-SIN and 31 July SIN-NRT (unfortunately it is SQ12 LAX route). Will I be safe from their invasion?

Such "selebriti" with terrible manners some of them. I encountered once a selebriti was late and we all have to wait for the selebriti to get on the plane. She just walked calmly like she did nothing wrong, while we all stare at her. I prefer to offload her bags and leave her, though it will take longer.

I am stuck in-between ChineseIndonesian and British (I am culturally somewhat British since I live there for a long time), but don't categorise me with the bling-bling Indonesians - and no I don't wear fancy brand like them. lol

The only reason I can think of is so that they can provide PER with F cabins for some flights. Due to the mining boom, there are a lot of cashed-up passengers who might want the option of flying in F out of PER. Australian press often reports about miners being paid insane salaries flying to Bangkok every leave break for non-stop "fun" *cough*. While I know that 73A F is probably nothing special compared to other craft, they may be wanting the prestige of holding an F class ticket and getting constant expensive drinks more than other considerations.

PER gets the retrofitted 772, so there is no F. PER used to be served by a330 before bring changed to a retrofitted 772. i guess that they had better routes to use the A330, like to replace the ageing 777s on some of the Dubai routes.
