  • SQ to increase CGK, DPS and resume SUB

As of July, SQ will increase its flight to CGK to 9 daily. The new flight will be tagged SQ 964 and will depart SIN at 1625 and back as SQ 965 at 1810. SQ 964/965 will be served by A333.

DPS will also get its 4th flight daily. SQ 940 will leave SIN at 0700 and back from DPS as SQ 949 at 2145. This new flight will be served by 772.

And this one will surely make our dentist in Surabaya very very happy....SQ will take over one of the 2 flights daily from MI. The morning flight will be served by SQ 930 leaving SIN at 0750 and back as SQ 931 at 1030. SQ 930/931 will be flown by A333.

Maybe soon SQ will also go back to MES when the new airport finally opens in July this year. MI is now planning to add its 3rd daily to MES as well.

      about time!

This is very welcome news. SQ CGK flights to/from have been so packed and difficult to book in the last couple years. Take today, for example: except for flying J on the 7:55am flight this morning, all other flights and fare classes completely full for the entire day from CGK-SIN.

I expect they will have no trouble with loads on a ninth daily flight.

I just wish they would do something about their service in the ground. Their call center, I would give a rating of 0 out of 10. Over the last 2 years, I have tried on 7 occassions (and multiple times per occassion) to call their Jakarta call center to make flight changes etc. Each and everytime, I have gotten a recorded message saying their phone lines are full, so please try the website. Of course the website has been unable to help me, we all know the peoblems with the site. So, basically I am them forced to call their call center in Singapore.

I have written complaints about this complete lack of call center service in Jakarta 5 times now over the past year and a half and there has been no improvement. Even with a J or F class booking, I have never ever been able to get an agent on the phone using the Jakarta call center. Why can't SQ correct this, especially for a city that sees the highest daily frequency of SQ flights!?

How wonderful! This sounds like a great opportunity to visit Surabaya, it's been too long! Incidentally, quite a few SQ Indonesian cabin crew hail from eastern Java. Last year, I also met a passenger on a US flight who had connected to SQ in SIN from an inbound MI flight from SUB and she described MI's inflight service as underwhelming.

For PEN and MES, I think we need SQ to lease some A330-200s!

Short Final, I see that you are QPP and if you are, calling the Sg number on the back of your QPP or TPP card really is the best way to resolve anything related to your SQ booking. The folks that answer the PPS contact line in Singapore are extremely efficient and will respond to your request and/or tell you what your options are. One quick and painless phone call. I have found this to be true whether you find yourself in Jakarta, Mumbai, San Francisco, or London! I have also heard that the local SQ number for Jakarta is extremely busy because they get a high volume of calls from travel agents who constitute a major distribution channel for that local market.

B727, I appreciate the suggestion, thank you. I am aware of this number and I agree with you that the men and women staffing that PPS number in Singapore are usually very efficient. That is precisely the number I end up using after I find a dead end using the Jakarta call center number.

But that's just the problem. Why can't they adequately staff the call center in Jakarta, especially for a full service airline that is supposed to be the best in the world? I have never successfully gotten through once! Each time I have ended up forced to making a long distance call to Singapore. C'mon, SQ, that's ridiculous and not the right way to treat passengers flying out of Jakarta.

I think it's a classic case of demand exceeding supply. However, if they are bringing an extra flight SQ 964/965 to/from CGK, then one would hope they are hiring more people to staff their telephone lines in Jakarta. You're right, Short Final--with another extra 300 seats to sell in each direction between the two capitals, it would behoove SQ to hire additional Jakarta staff to attend to their CGK customers over the phone

Does this mean the end of the current overnight stops for crew ?.

Also ends the rumour of MI taking over the route, for now.

MI recently added a fifth daily flight, so the demand is definitely there. I'd say SQ can fill up an A333 for the evening flight which carries loads of connecting pax, like what they're doing with KUL on weekends with the evening SQ118/119 being the only SQ rotation.

YES ! No more night stops for cabin crew, all turnaround flights for DPS.

does this mean the flight will be in DPS the whole day ?

No... they are the new flight numbers . doesnt mean that particular aircraft will stay all day. The flight that used to overnight would come right back

TQ SQ for adding SQ 965 , it will reduce problems with overloading pax on SQ 963 , 967 and tight connecting time at SIN . Most of the time both flight always delayed and we need to rush for connecting flight at T3, luggages sometimes are left behind at SIN. No privilege to enjoy SKL or being invited to SKL F

The loads to CGK always baffle me, but then the better off Indonesians love SQ. Nice to have another flight though I think while SQ965 will be popular the outbound 964 may not be as much.

I also like the 4th DPS flight and thought I go check if I can snatch an Eco award SIN-DPS for 2 pax on this just added flight for the busy August timeframe, but of course our friends blocked "X" inventory from the start and only allow waitlist even though flight is wide open across the board. Oh well I'm sure my SQ *S will work magic

And you have to hope the idiots at Changi who think scanning people on arrival is a good idea don't stitch you up with one of their pointless games.
