Short flights for solo travellers in non-overly-restrictive places, e.g. Saigon last week, I found were overpriced. Who pays $616 for a weekend visit. Seriously, SQ? Loads at checkin on Jetstar were chockers by comparison. Just can't be justified, would rather pay the $30 odd to sit in 1A on 3K/TR..

Yeah exactly, if I'm going to pay for a full Y-fare, I'm going to be very sure (or at least 80% sure) that I can upgrade to J-Saver using miles. Just last month, I paid S$2.6K for SIN-FCO/MXP-SIN when other airlines were offering S$1.6-1.7K (of course these flights entail a stopover), but seriously S$2.6K is way over the top for a European trip, made worse flying an old 772 to FCO. Thank goodness I managed to upgrade on Saver on the return leg ... confirmed at the last minute.

SGD2.6K is pretty high, pretty sure I paid SGD2.2K fully flex for a trip in June 2011. Not sure I could justify 2.6K out of my own pocket these days, especially when you can fly Emirates with one stopover to any Euro city.

Is that 10k each way or r/t? How's the upgrade availability on SIN-SYD? I know LHR-SIN is non-existent...

Finding award flights on the SYD leg are virtually impossible as well. I presume upgrades come from the same bucket.

As a result, passenger load factor (PLF) fell 1.9 percentage points to 77.8%. The number of passengers carried increased by 1.1% year-on-year to 1.5 million.
PLF eased across all route regions, except East Asia and Americas. The shift in Easter holidays to March this year (as compared to April last year) contributed to weaker loads. The operating environment remains challenging. Efforts to stimulate demand to boost loads are expected to place continued downward pressure on yields.
SilkAir’s systemwide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometers) increased 3.7% year-on- year against 15.4% growth in capacity (measured in available seat kilometers). PLF was 7.8 percentage points lower at 69.4%, as the increase in traffic lagged behind the rate of capacity expansion.
                  See above.

Glad to see that US loads continue to increase. Perhaps there's hope that somehow they'll replace the 200 J seats disappearing with the 345s ... or maybe that'll keep load factors even better, but will not do anything to their top line.

BA is struggling on the route without QF and upgrades open up during the last 14 days. I have never seen more awards seats for J and F. Previously, it was indeed very difficult.

I'm flying SQ for the first time in July, could anyone tell me what the loadings have been like for SQ305 / SQ306 / SQ285 & SQ286 please.

Loads of the seats are blocked on all four of these flights at the moment, its been difficult to choose 4 seats together, so I'm hoping that when online check in opens 48 hours prior to the flight that i may be able to pick better seats.

                          Welcome to SQTalk.

I wouldn't read too much into what the loads have been at any point, these can fluctuate on a daily basis for a variety of reasons. What dates are you booked to fly ?. We can tell you how busy they look on those particular days.
