  • SQ F vs SQ J

Just seeking some opinions from the seasoned travelers out there. Am trying to decide whether it's worth it to just redeem award flights for Mrs Mingster and myself from HND-SIN in J or whether to stump up an extra 34,000 miles and fly back in F. Is F on the 777-300 worth the upgrade over the Medium-Haul J in your experience (we've never flown SQ F before)? Also, because the flight from HND departs at 0030 would we end up "wasting" the experience as we would most likely sleep most of the way. Thanks in advance for any insight.

I did this route SQ633 in F back in Apr and I must agree with you that it might be better to take J for this route or take F out of NRT on a morning slot for the full experience. The flight timing is pretty short, just under 7 hours and main meal service was just supper though Japanese option was available.

By the time you depart, you will most probably feel very tired after checking out of the hotel many hours before and will probably doze off easily on board. Even though the J seat on retrofitted 773 is the regional config, catching a couple of hours of sleep is doable, as that's all you have after deducting 3 hours for both meal services and cabin preparation for landing.

        I totally agree with it.

But for a short night flight, I would save 34,000 miles. You would hardly feel the flight. regional J is good enough for this length. The meal will also be an abbreviated quick supper service. And there is no TPR access departing from HND.

Better accumulate and fly F to North or South America and departing from SIN to get the nice airport experience from porch to gate.

Thanks all for your opinions. You've helped me make up my mind. Am going to wait list my return flight as J out of HND with a daytime F out of Narita as well and let the SQ Ticketing Gods decide
