Am I right to say that on the low-J config, the only benefit of picking 15A over 17A would be a better view unobstructed by the wing (at the expense of legroom)? In other words, if 17A is availabile, would you guys still choose to be seated at 15A?

Yes, but 17A is normally blocked for the baby bassinetOriginally posted by eriond View PostAm I right to say that on the low-J config, the only benefit of picking 15A over 17A would be a better view unobstructed by the wing (at the expense of legroom)? There are many things I will do for a good seat. Having a baby isn't one of them

Yeah, it is blocked for online seat selection but available through calling SQ...at the risk of being bumped if there is a baby who needs it.Originally posted by kt74 View PostYes, but 17A is normally blocked for the baby bassinet

On my last month flight, I managed to secured 17A online... No need to call...Originally posted by Desert Traveller View PostYeah, it is blocked for online seat selection but available through calling SQ...at the risk of being bumped if there is a baby who needs it.
And sure it's my fav seat.
No problem with the view, the wing was not a big issue here... Managed to snapshoot the Olympic Village from my window...

All these years, i have been sitting only on bulkhead J seats (row 17 on the 744, row 11 on the 77W, etc). Recently flew A380 J row 18D (which is a bulkhead), as well as row 25 (non-bulkhead). I got row 25 because SQ messed up my seat assignment post-8 July. I was initially upset because i didn't get my bulkhead but to my surprise, i found the non-bulkhead seat feels just as spacious despite the need to slot through my feet. Now, I am going to avoid the bulkheads because the screens are further away from the seat so they feel smaller.Originally posted by eriond View PostAm I right to say that on the low-J config, the only benefit of picking 15A over 17A would be a better view unobstructed by the wing (at the expense of legroom)? I would pick 15A over 17A.
Furthermore, 17A seems to be just next to the galley. I think you will get stray light and noise from there.
Btw, any thoughts on row 96 for SIN-CDG. We will be on it this December. Is this a bulkhead? which means the screen is further away from the seat?

I flew once recently SYD-SIN on 96A after reading comments that it feels like a mini-cabin as it's the last row and being the first to be served, etc.Originally posted by SQueeze View PostBtw, any thoughts on row 96 for SIN-CDG. But it's one of the worst seats I've gotten in J. Firstly, it's very very very cold right at the back (as confirmed by FSS that it is usually colder at the back) where I have to use 2 blankets to keep warm. Maybe because the last section has less passengers but the airconditioning is way too powerful despite attempts to raise the temperature by the crew.
The galley, toilets and staircase are located behind row 96. So imagine the amount of traffic for these functions. One thing to note for 96A, the left panel besides the IFE is missing compared to other J seats where there's compartments on the right side and I think mirror on the left?

On the edge of the wing to be precisely...Originally posted by webbyboy View PostSo 17A is not over the wing?
Here some pictures, taken from seat 17A....
Views from the window, with the window's frame intake for illustration...

The Olympic Village...

The seat 17A...

I would happily exchange the view of a quarter (or a fifth?) wing for those space in any day...
The girls were working very quietly, the disturbance from them were minimal...Originally posted by SQueeze View Post.......

I still can ignore that in any day... but not for the line for toilet in the rush morning hours...
But, once again... it's just a matter of preference... 15A or 17A...

17A

...and 14K on a 77W.
Noise cancelling head phones when enjoying the IFE and QR eye shades plus ear plugs when wanting to sleep...is there another 400+ people in the vincinity?
