Finally I got my bag and wish her good luck working with this SAD company.
Well actually it was 9V-SKM that had technical issues and not the airport - some hydraulic problem hence the cargo door could not be opened when it reached Singapore. And the delay at heathrow was because 9V-SKM's cargo door could not be closed and it triggered a power trip when the engineers were trying to fix the problem .

I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear about this incident.. was too tired and pissed to write anything coherently last night..

The long delayed SQ318 in early Oct also involved an all business class UD A380.
I wonder if it was also SKM.

SKM was only delivered on the last day of September. Thanks stefan for the correction!

were there anyone else on this flight? i heard that some passengers left the flight due to the technical issues - not too sure if this is true though.

                Anyone encountered this problem before?
This happened to me on the morning flight from SYD sometime in March of 2009. It was a surreal feeling to be amongst a huge crowd of people waiting for luggage at that one baggage carousel in T3.

We must've waited nearly a full hour before they finally managed to open the cargo door the bags started coming out. First, we saw the crew bags roll out (there was a cute one with a Hello Kitty motif). Then, all the Economy class bags came out and I mean each and every one of them that was tagged to SIN on that A380.

I and my seat mate exchanged puzzled looks as we wondering what happened to the Business class bags. When they finally came out, we lodged a complaint with the SQ baggage person on duty. There was another person complaining who had traveled in Suites and his bags came out dead last!

This is one of those rare days where the poor guys at the back of the plane gets a treat.

Somehow I think the cargo door issue is more prominent on Airbus. I used to take the SQ A343 and I also waited at the baggage belt for 45 minutes due to cargo door problems.

I was on SKM as SQ318 to London on the 8th of Oct. There were no problems at all. Arrived LHR on-time and was out of the airport in less than 30-40mins. I can't thank SQ enough for the speed-pass through the UK immigration, saves quite a fair bit of time as there tends to be a fairly long line.

Still, what would I know as such an infrequent traveller?
I had three arrivals in T3 in the last six months and luggage took more than 30 minutes and was presented last. All three times properly marked 'First Class'.

Same happened to me once in LHR. Socialist baggage handlers perhaps?
