What a load of hogwash. The only certainty is that this bunch of management beancounters are running a former market-leading icon into 2nd-rate mediocrity. Shame on them. http://www.sqtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12075
Tis a shame indeed. They were too comfortable being in the #1 position for so long, they stopped looking for new opportunities even as their cost landscape changed and the competition gained up on them

Don't know they don't launch it sooner like a month earlier. New York Fashion Week is September 5-12 and Milan is September 19-26

Speaking of which, they will need 1or 2 more 77Ws to do this route. not sure if they can free up any 77Ws now though...
The original rumour was that the A380 would terminate at FRA and cease flying to JFK. JFK passengers were to be re-routed via MXP so that a softer market was supported by the extra JFK-bound passengers on board. This would also mean that the A380 wouldn't fly half-empty to JFK just because the room was needed on board the SIN-FRA leg. At the same time, the MXP-BCN routing would be broken up and BCN would then be direct only, extending to GRU and SQ's relationship with LH would improve by handing them more passengers FRA-JFK.

Of course SQ missed the boat on the MXP-JFK deal, had to replace the worn-out 744s on FRA/JFK with A380s and then the Italian and Spanish economies died and the collapse of Spanair destroyed the codesharing demand out of BCN.

      And now here we are...

IMHO SQ should try to operate daily service to Milan (as SQ368 flight) and operate separately flights to Barcelona. I think that in this way SQ could compete with Cathay Pacific, which offers full 77W service to Milan.

Now, e.g. on Sundays flights you are unable to catch connections to Australia.

There are many different schedules according to the operational days. It is very strange, i hope that in the future the operational schedule returns regular. Why doesn't SQ try to operate a dedicate 5 weekly (or daily) flight to Milan?

According to latest PDF timetable, MXP increases to 6x weekly from October 27, but yes, very disorganised.

To make better sense, the following flights operate by "evenings" out of SIN:

                  11.40 p.m. Monday, Tuesday evenings (SQ378)
                  1.35 a.m. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday evenings (SQ368)
                  2.20 a.m. Sunday evenings (SQ 368)

According to reservation System, flights to Milan are 5xw during Winter Season:

                    SQ 0368 SIN-MXP 02.20-08.35 Monday
                    SQ 0378 SIN-MXP-BCN 23.40-05.55+1 06.55+1-08.30+1 Tuesday
                    SQ 0368 SIN-MXP 01.35-07.50 Thursday, Saturday
                    SQ 0378 SIN-MXP-BCN 01.35-07.50 08.50-10.25 Sunday

                    SQ 0367 MXP-SIN 11.00-05.55+1 Monday, Thursday, Saturday
                    SQ 0377 BCN-MXP-SIN 09.50-11.30 12.40-07.35+1 Wednesday
                    SQ 0377 BCN-MXP-SIN 12.25-14.05 15.15-10.10+1 Sunday

I think that this disorganization of schedules is owing to accomodate them with flights to Barcelona and Sao Paulo.

Maybe check another way- technically there are two flights on Mondays from October 27. One at Monday 2.20, the other at 23.40, so perhaps it only shows one of them. This is off the PDF timetable and is consistent with BCN increasing to 6x weekly as well.

It shows a flight operating only 29th October (Tuesday) from BCN/MXP. The rest of the winter season 5xw.

Let's hope in S14 to have more Singapore Airlines flights to Milan

Ahhhh... This is one of the strange things that happens on the PDF timetable.

The PDF timetable is valid until November 10 and shows the extra flight as Effective October 28, excluding November 4. The next extra flight would be on November 11, but the timetable validity ends on November 10. The way they write it, they make it seem as though it will continue on but in reality it is just one extra flight.

They could do with more flights to FCO as well. SQ365/366 operates only 2x week this winter.

Emirates Adds Non-Dubai Flight and Enters Trans-Atlantic Fray

Emirates is breaking out of Dubai. In what will be a curious experiment for one of the world’s fastest-growing and most respected airlines, Emirates will begin flying daily from New York’s JFK International Airport to Milan starting Oct. 1. It will be one of the very few routes in the company’s vast network that doesn’t touch its Dubai hub.

The JFK-Milan route is currently served with nonstop flights by Alitalia, Delta (DAL), and American, while United (UAL) flies directly from nearby Newark. Into that mix comes Emirates, which is touting the only first-class service on the route—its rivals offer only business class as the top level—as well as connections to the rest of Italy through a soon-to-be announced partnership with EasyJet, which has established a small domestic operation at Milan’s Malpensa Airport. Emirates already has three daily flights to Dubai from Milan and flies to 134 cities in 76 countries.

Why Milan? Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ chief commercial officer, declined to specify just what made the Italian city an attractive target. “We see a good DNA in the cities of Milan, New York, and Emirates,” he said in an interview, “and we have a very good product to offer.” Both cities are banking and fashion centers, of course, and pitting Emirates’s high-end cabins against the U.S. airlines and Alitalia may have offered a more significant contrast than vying against Air France (AF:FP), British Airways (IAG:LN), or Lufthansa (LHA:GR) on other European routes.

It seems that from next June to the end of August Milan increases to daily. Barcelona 5 weekly:

                                SQ 368/7 SIN-MXP-SIN 12-456-
                                SQ 378/7 SIN-MXP-BCN-MXP-SIN --3---7

Very good, I guess that for Summer 15 SQ 368/7 will be daily.
