Well... both my grandads were pretty warm people... there's the link!

Until I read 9V-SIA's post before, I gotta confess, i didn't know a Tom was a male turkey. I thought it was a style of cooking I learnt something new that's for sure.

I still say it's the best bed in the sky - the mattress could be a tad thicker, but apart from that, it's very easy to sleep on

Interestingly, capon (castrated male chickens) are more tender because of the lack of the male hormones.

A guy use to go round house to house doing the surgery.
Interesting... again, I'm embarassed by the fact that I didn't know this It all tasted like turkey to me!

Maybe some stock they hadn't finished giving out yet perhaps?

Arriving at destination - on right!

I've nodded off for a good 4 hours or so - and apparently according to the crew I (in a state of semi-awakedness) waved off breakkies 1/2 an hour earlier (which I vaguely remember doing! )

Less than an hour to go!

And we've climbed to over FL410 too...

Early morning rays catch 9V-SKI's no 3 and 4 Trent 970 in a nice light

Ah a pristine cabin... unmessed cabin. A bonus for the cleaners when loads are light

      Cam whoring time! Welcome aboard!

We're vectored to a RWY 16 approach. With no delays

        Almost there!

        NOT part of the city

And it's wheels on at 705am. Nice and smooth. You never seem to feel much in this plane. I don't know. It's just THAT huge.

Taxiing to gate 11 (I think it was), I catch a glimpse of the CBD's silhoutte

And finally.... some rest for the big bird It'll be a nice long day sitting in the sun as she's not going anywhere till 5pm.

As it turns out, we park next to VH-EBB. An A330 taking my friend Aunty Jacq to Sydney as JQ36 - very convenient!

Since I'm going on to AKL, i sit by the gate (after going back up one level to departures) to just admire this bird

Around 815 or so (an hour after landing), Lil' mr Tuggy comes by to take her away to a remote stand. It's a little dance and affair that happens every single day, (Note: Mr Tuggy has 10 identical girlfriends from Singapore) - who come by regularly. He grabs her in this rather elaborate mating ritual, which i found rather amazing.

And off they go for a romantic interlude.

Which somehow, doesn't last very long, as this picture taken at 1030am shows... mr Tuggy's nowhere to be seen..

And that, ladies and gents, concludes part one of this TR. When I'm done editing the photos, I've got some for the ride back as well

          Thanks for reading!

You could have gotten a ground-level view from the NZ lounge. It looks out towards that gate

They used to give out gender specific ones in R, but they switched some time ago. They still do separate ones for ladies and gents, however, in F.

To me, they're not claustrophic at all, but I understand how it could be for some others. From my perspective, they're huge - there is PLENTY of real estate in there. I'm a fan, definitely.
Now you have some more photos of the bed and suite.. I get it. Lots of room!

Thanks for the great read SQFG.
Just what one needs when one is in-between trips.

Have more of "that sparkly juice thingy" for me, muchly admiring that
you scored the whole bottle on your dining table.
                A "solo-in-suites" benefit methinks.
F all the way. Settle for J. Usually whY. Sigh.

Yeah, that's where I took the last pic from. I do quite like the MEL Koru. Not as nice as the CHC one, but I think one of the better ones I've visited. The one in AKL is urgh....

Yes, I do rather like the sparkly juice thingy. Funny thing is I can't seem to find this sparkly juice thingy at the local warong or the 7-11. I wonder why?

                        Great report as always SQFG!

I agree about the TPR. I was in there on 12/20, escorted in, looked around, no one was there except me, and just walked out. Felt very stuffy in there.

When did you last visit the AKL one? International one was renovated last year and domestic the year before last. Both are quite good (better than MEL) although of course can sometimes get busy (despite both having more seating than they used to).
