The Jamon in my old picture has a green/gold ribbon wrapped around it

@coffeeblack: I should be, seeing as you do need to fly LH F in order to access the FCT, thanks for your patience

          • Epilogue - The Great Soak

This post is especially dedicated to nickbot, without whom this TR might not exist.

Avert thine eyes if ye be not a fan of bath/shower reports, for the content below may not be as family-friendly as the rest of the other posts!

Best we keep it short and sweet then.

First up, the instruments in any bathing ritual are crucial to maximising enjoyment. Fortunately, Lufthansa favours Etro.

Bath Amenities - Etro, no less!

            The front row:

Etro Relent Series - Bath Salts, Bath Foam, Hair Conditioner and Shampoo

            The back row:

Etro Everything - Shoe Care Sponge, Shower Cap, Body Lotion and Nail File ('sif anything less!)

In the spirit of that gallant and brave nickbot (but without as many bath bubbles), I can hereby confirm:

            The LH F bathtub - Kyo+ certified

            Shenanigans. Delivered.

See the lengths I will go to for you people? I work for these TRs I tell ya...

Best we be getting on then, methinks.

            *knock*
            *knock*
            *knock*

Three knocks on the door and something urgently muffled in German meant I had to cut the soak short and make for a hasty exit.

I emerged fresh as a bunny and smelling of European spice.

I surveyed my surroundings with surprise. The sky outside was now dark. The entire FCT had vacated and I was informed everyone else had already cleared immigration whilst I was busy on my *ahem*,... earlier assignment.

I didn't have time to take photos as I was personally escorted by an agent down a flight of stairs to Immigration on the lower-level.

They were beyond polite. They were really pleasant and nice! Sincere smiles all round. Other airports, even Changi, could learn a thing or two about how to treat F pax here...

Passport returned, I was informed that the Porsche Cayenne was unfortunately not available, and I'd have to settle for the S-Class instead. Oh well, not even the FCT can nail things down 100%, I guess.

My Chariot Awaits - Not the Cayenne. Tsk tsk.

The also-very-polite driver was very forthcoming in giving a little 'tour of the tarmac' as we drove in/around FRA. He even lowered the rear privacy shades so I'd get a better view for the camera.

The below pictures are stills from the video I took, so the resolution is not as clear. Pardon the lens flare from the very harsh tarmac lighting.

The Big Bird - Coming into view

The last turn - Almost there

LH Logo - Marks the spot (note the massive wingspan)

The Aerobridge - Where I'd soon be entering

The Small Bird - In the gate next to us

Looking slightly worse for the very rushed exit out of the bathtub, I had to ask for one picture (normally not allowed for security reasons, but the driver obliged anyway)

A Very Unkempt Kyo - Victorious.

            FCT.

            Finished.

                • Epilogue - LH F on the 747-400

                  LH782
                  First Class
Seat 83A from FRA to BKK (Frankfurt to Bangkok)
                  25 September 2009
                  Plane: B747-400

This post is especially dedicated to that fan of anything Boeing 747-400, sumitsan, who has been waiting a longggg time for this update! So, here you are!

Every Lufthansa First BP gets its own holder, and mine was no exception. It's a smart-looking silver/red affair that looks like this:

Lufthansa First Class - Boarding Pass Holder

And according to my BP, I had been assigned Seat 83A.

                  Wait just a second...

                  Hang on.

                  Eighty-three.

                  .
                  .
                  .

Eighty-three (83) with an -A on the end

                  Okayyy...

                  83A

                  WHAT THE...?!!

Now, I may not profess to be an 'Anak Kampung' (not everybody can be one, to be sure), but I did do a double-take, as I was expecting this F seat to be somewhere in the single-digits, but it was as clear as could be - 83A was going to be my seat for this flight.

Seat 83A - Have I been shoved all the way to the back?!

My worries were for nought, however, as fortunately, Row 83 means you're in the rarified air of the Upper Deck on this 744.

Phew! Time to lean back and get comfortable...

As luck would have it, being in 83A is the equivalent of being in 17A on SQ's 744. Why is that important?

Seat 83A - Is also an Emex seat!

(Sorry, I was so busy taking photos I forgot to switch into the LH slippers)

As you can see, 83A offers plenty of legroom, including storage compartments for their amenity kit to the far left and a larger compartment to the immediate left.

Storage Compartment - Close-up shot, very convenient for easy access to the QC3s

If you look closely, you can probably see my old Canon 960IS here that I used for taking hi-res videos - a feature my now-retired Canon 980IS didn't have, ironically). Extra bonus points for whoever can guess what the camera and Boses are resting on!

Despite being only my second flight with Lufthansa, the fact that it was from from their homebase of FRA in F made it all the more special. The long period of careful planning had finally culminated in that pricey BD all-miles redemption, and I had long resolved to surely make it count, surely? (You'll find out later on...)

Allow Me To Demonstrate - How to lean back in an LH F cabin (dedicated to Aulia Harun)

Immediately, I was offered a pre-flight drink. Time for the hard stuff...

Bubbles - I don't really recall but it could be Mumm.

I decided it was time to take stock of my surroundings as the very friendly stewardess came around with the amenity-kit and pyjamas trolley.

LH Trolley - Amenity kits on the top shelf (take note: ladies get the white ones in the middle), pyjamas on the bottom

LH Stewardess - Busy having a joke with the HON across the aisle during drinks service (who says the Germans are stuffy?)

Whilst the rest of the cabin were being served drinks, another stewardess came by to introduce themselves and to present 'a few presents' in the form of a dark navy blue pair of Van Laack pyjamas and a Bogner amenity kit:

LH F Amenity Kit - Big thumbs up on this one (contents below)

We spent quite awhile waiting on the runway - and here's where I hang my head in shame...

Sometime between starting to peruse the menu which was handed out, and waiting for ATC to give us the green light, I fell asleep. Blame it on the early start to the day, the copious amounts of food consumed, the all-round fun I'd had throughout the entire week, premium cabin exhaustion, all of the above or none of the above...

                  Blame it on everything.

Or blame it on nothing - the bottom line was I'd made the gravest mistake possible:

Not being awake for an Lufthansa First dinner service.

                  nickbot would surely disapprove!

Well, in LH's defense, I do recall the stewardess coming around and trying to persuade me to eat. I also recall declining (or grunting, I can't remember) the offer.

I do recall the shocked look on her face, however.

And on that bombshell, we're down to the last post in the series.

Next (last) post: Will Kyo+ eat on LH F? (The Conclusion)

Teaser Shot - Find out in the season finale of the OSL TR! Coming soon to a computer/iDevice/fancy-gadget screen near you!

Thank you for dedicating this post to me, Kyo! And yeah, I was waiting for this post and knew it was only inevitable. I also have a couple TRs from my April trip to put up that also involve the 747-400s, one of them with SQ 744. I've just been too busy with work lately.

I've never missed my meal, but on a JFK-FRA sector, I passed out after take-off and missed my post take-off drink of SilverKris Sling.
