Wow! Apart from the 1980's doilly
, the LX F flight looks absolutely superb.
Very strange that stargold obsesses about tidying his room the night before each departure. Perhaps there's a story behind that too, e.g. his parents made a surprise visit once and were absolutely shocked ?
You get that all the time on BA at least.Later I would also hear "Cabin crew, landing in ten minutes" from the cockpit as well - intended for the flight attendants, but quite cool nevertheless.
I'm not sure about this. BA LHR-CDG is the same flying time but you get a cold tray meal, e.g. a chicken salad, a small tub of dessert (or a chocolate), warm bread and some drinks. It was really an extremely short flight from Milan to Zurich and the actual flight time was barely 40 minutes. To receive a sandwich and a full drinks service, even taking into account being in Business Class, was quite impressive.
The ZRH F check-in freestanding desks reminds me of the same at HKG except the ones at HKG are right in the middle of the vast terminal. An oasis of calm amongst the bustle all around!
The ZRH F lounge looks impressive. It sure beats hands down the old LX F lounge (or rather the F section inside the J lounge) - I remember searching in vain for anything more than croissants to eat for breakfast!
I guess you missed the ZRH cow train ?

Seems like LX F is now very popular with quite a number of SQTalkers.
I was wanting to wait till the TR is finished before commenting but jhm's comment was so tempting to respond.

I'll go hide behind the couch now before stargold unloads his wrath on me..Originally posted by stargold View Post..... clear away all the booze, hide the Playboy magazine and pretend they're all good boys!" I replied, "Oh definitely.

Glad you're enjoying it (one flight left to write up, in progress!) LX was really excellent, definitely worth a try in F.Originally posted by Paint Horse View PostI had never considered Swiss until now. Thanks for the report.
Thank you! Hand on heart, I didn't feel that the old seats were inadequate in any significant way. The new seat is excellent I'm sure, but the soft product more than makes up for the slightly older interior...Originally posted by HUGE AL View PostDude, that is one detailed report. Excellent!
Hopefully by the time I fly LX F, the new interiors will be on the LAX flight.
Is it too late to switch your European flights this autumn?Originally posted by Kyo View PostYou summed up the Swiss experience perfectly. What a wonderful TR and it makes me sad to think I won't have even a chance to contemplate flying with them until next year.
Here's to hoping they start SIN-BKK again!
Thank you for the comments, I'm glad I did their excellent product some justice with my report

Hey, don't knock the doilly! As I said, it somehow didn't look too out of place in that table setting... don't know whether you agree! Doilly or otherwise, LX F is indeed superbOriginally posted by jhm View PostWow! Apart from the 1980's doilly

Ahh. Well, I haven't flown the shortest European sectors for a long time so I wasn't familiar with what BA offer. MXP-ZRH just felt like we were essentially jumping over the AlpsOriginally posted by jhmI'm not sure about this. I agree it's nice, but not as nicely done as the ZRH LX counters - the design and the private surroundings of the separate room is much better.
Without having been to the old F lounge, I can only repeat how impressed I was with the ZRH F lounge. Especially the pre-flight dining - two excellent main courses as phaleesy "kindly" pointed out in relation to the Italian swimmers!!The ZRH F lounge looks impressive. It sure beats hands down the old LX F lounge (or rather the F section inside the J lounge) - I remember searching in vain for anything more than croissants to eat for breakfast!

I sadly missed out on the cow train in favour of the Merc van - heard it's a rather unique experience. Next time!Originally posted by qasr View PostDing dong!

I'm a perfectly behaved innocent young student with an immaculate room, I'll have you all know! Booze and adult magazines have no place in the room of a model student such as myself.

If only LX still did the BKK-SIN vv sector...
Such high praise - thank you! I agree, it's a real shame they dropped BKK-SIN v.v. and hope they're able to reinstate it in the future.

Well, I was so inspired by that work of literary genius (the mother of all threads, no less) by nickbot, that I locked in my departure ex-FRA on LH F a lonnngggggg time ago.Originally posted by stargold View PostIs it too late to switch your European flights this autumn?

There's also the slight matter of the cost of LH F redemptions skyrocketing lately. So it was now or never...
But fear not. Even though LX has abandoned SIN, they have treated me well enough that they will always have an eternally grateful place in my heart.

Looking at the mess in my apartment (my stuff overflows out of my room), it will be like striking the Lotto if you manage to find the lost copies of "stuff"Originally posted by stargold View PostYou guys!

There's still time to switch FRA-SIN to FRA-ZRH-BKK-SINOriginally posted by Kyo View PostWell, I was so inspired by that work of literary genius (the mother of all threads, no less) by nickbot, that I locked in my departure ex-FRA on LH F a lonnngggggg time ago.

Aside from the huge miles penalty for taking LH F, I have thus far been also slightly put off by the mixed reports about it - some rave, some hate! Would be great to hear your thoughts on it
I don't think such tales of absolute masochism will need to meet any standards - the details of sheer torture will make fascinating reading, regulatory standards or not!Originally posted by Nick C View PostHopefully my year end "43hrs to LHR! whY????" will meet the regulatory standards.

What is your intended route of this flying equivalent of self-flagellation?
