This is scary! You even keep a record of your smoking flights!

So which were your 2nd and last smoking flights?

I don't remember those days cos I was one of the PAX lying unconscious on the floor from smoke inhalation..

    Don't miss those days meself!

2nd Last - MH4D 2nd April 2000. Was originally MH4 on April Fool's day, so they decided that they'd play a prank and have the aircraft go tech on us. 22-23 hour delay. But I will never forget that flight, cause I got a nice center jumpseat view on a 32R departure from KUL, and a 27L landing into LHR. Thanks to Captain K, I spent the time from pushback to the top of climb, about 3-4 hours during cruise, and after lunch from about 400NM out of EGLL on the flight deck. Awesome. This was aboard 9M-MPB.

Last - MH3 22 September 2000. LHR-KUL aboard 9M-MPF. According to my records, was in 14C on the upperdeck and I sat next to a guy heading back to MEL and he was a professional racehorse punter.

        Scary...... but hilarious.

I have records that date back to the time i started flying 30 years ago.

Since 2003, my records are in full, including registration, seat numbers and a space for commentary like "damned b**** in 32K reclined fully in my face all the way from takeoff to landing"

                To SQFlyerGirl -

If I am to transit in IST for about 12 hours, would TK offer me a hotel in town or at the airport? Would there be transport provided?

I'm thinking of buying a F ticket from BKK oneway... rather than redemption..

                Thx

According to this page, you should be able to get a day-room in a hotel. That's assuming they still have this offer.

Shameless plug for a really nice guy: If you're ever in IST and need an honest and reasonably priced guide cum driver, look no further than our friend Kemal.
Just a little update - Apparently Kemal might have moved over to Sofia, Bulgaria... one reason to move that up on my list of cities to visit, I guess. Although that's really N_Architect territory...

Sofia, Bulgaria: North of where I come from, south of where I am currently located, never been there, but in reality no territories here - that's the beauty of SQTalk; we're all here, there and everywhere, actually, aren't we?

Makes one more reason for me too! He is actually Bulgarian in origin - if i recall what he told me.

Just trying to figure out which side of the mosque this picture was taken. Was it taken with the Haghia directly behind you? It is a very nice viewpoint.

I'd like to get a similar shot but from a higher position. Not sure where I should go! Met a photographer who told me he got a shot of the Blue Mosque from one of the open windows at the Haghia, so I might have to end up paying another 10 pounds to get into the Haghia to find THE window.

I'd also like a shot of the Blue Mosque with the waters behind it. Where do I need to go to take that picture? I think it has to be some fairly high rise building in the vicinity.

Tried hunting for various IST pics in photography forums but have not seen the pics I wanted and I don't know where to find the answers. I could ask concierge I suppose but the lady I asked the last time wasn't too intelligent. She told me the pics were most likely taken from a helicopter.

BTW, do I need to bring a headscarf for the mosque visit?

Yeah, close to dawn, the Haghia was behind me.

I don't know about Turkey, but in most other places, you do need to tone it down when visiting religious places, including mosques. I'd recommend the headscarf.
