  • You don't think the reason for the delay is the Nickbot's were downgraded as F was full

Can we have reassurance at least that your pussy cat has been safely released from his spell of incarceration?

I'm so sorry shopaholic, work has been interfering with my SQTalk life of late, hope you had a fantastic flight though

          • Thank you for the little update, nickbot. Of course your personal life is way more important than in cyber life. Anyhow, since it's 4 pages ahead in this thread, may I suggest to forget the placeholder. Just do a continuous post style. Sorry this old man is impatient when clicking page 23 and had to click another one page, instead of just clicking the last post.

            • I have explained to Mr. nickbot how to solve this time problem before. It is the same answer I give my students when they complain about lack of time. Just stop sleeping at night. Right now is a perfect example. It is the middle of the night where he is. Everyone post here right now and say - Mr. nickbot, Mr. nickbot, wakeup, wakeup.

              • Mr Nickbot, wake up!
                Sorry!
                But thanks for that update!

Look forward to the rest of your trip report.
Yep, flew that segment yesterday back to Australia and offered the same as ukflyer.

Must have been considering the poor health of Nickbots!

                  • SIN non-stopover Part IV - a super-duper-extra-special-VVIP joins us!

Okay, at SQ LPP's suggestion, I'm going to skip the placeholders and update here at the end of the thread (might a kind moderator be able to delete my placeholders please?...the delete option seems to have disappeared!)

So, where was I? Oh yes, we were having morning coffee whilst catching up with our two VVIP friends, Jubilee777 and taipeiflyer (who are of course super-extra-special-VVIPs in their own right ) when who should turn up but our good friend (and super-duper-extra-special-VVIP), Sir. I I believe the slight delay in his arrival was due to security staff at the Intercontinental having to beat back the crowds of paparazzi and general well wishers to allow his safe passage up the red carpet (strewn with rose petals of course). We were truly honoured by his presence, and naturally this catalysed another photocall!

Group shot one - Sir. I and the SQTalk boys!

Group shot two - boys and part time SQTalk girl!

Sir. I also came bearing gifts - he knows I'm a big fan of the 747, so he most kindly gave me a 747 badge and fridge magnet which he had personally couriered from Seattle I only heard later that these were the only such items in his personal collection, so I felt extremely touched by this gesture -thank you so much Sir. I, they certainly helped mark the occasion of finally achieving our goal to fly in all three classes on an SQ 744!

The 747 items in question - I particularly love the fridge magnet

It was about this time that it dawned upon mrs nickbot and I that Sir. I might in fact be the evil messenger boy for CGK/SQ LPP (delete as appropriate) - this was confirmed when the aforementioned LPPS member telephoned his henchman to check that we were ready for our trip in SQ F...

Methinks there are foul plans afoot!

Unable to join us due to his present grounded state, SQ LPP was eager to see photographs of our mini morning coffee DO in real time! The photograph above details Sir. I taking orders and Jubilee777 frantically loading pics onto Flickr to satisfy the evil demands of their YVR based taskmaster. Don't let their happy faces fool you folks, for those are actually grimaces of terror!

Time was flying by, and we could have happily spent all day chatting over coffee, but our impending SQ F experience was beckoning us, so it was soon time to head out to the airport. Jubilee777 and Sir. I were kindly accompanying us to the airport, so we grabbed our bags and asked the doorman to call us a couple of taxis. We said a fond farewell to taipeiflyer -thank you so much again for coming over to meet us so early in the morning and of course for bringing our shiny new Tumi gifts We then jumped in the first taxi and waved goodbye to taipeiflyer,...it really dawned upon us that the adventure had just began!

I mentioned to Sir. I that I'd really like to check in at the T3 First Class check-in area (once again, if the nickbots were doing SQ F, we were doing it in style!) I also mentioned that I may have, ahem, "lost" our BPs that had been issued in BKK the previous day, so we'd have to collect new ones Both Jubilee777 and Sir. I said this would be no problem, and we sat back to enjoy the short ride to Changi. I'll leave you with one final shot to whet your appetites before the next update (it's a video capture from a short film clip that Jubilee777 took of us as we arrived at Changi)...

Our arrival at SIN T3 First Class check-in (you can just about spot mrs nickbot keeping a north eye on her new Tumi!)
(ps. I think the "red carpet" road surface is actually there for Sir. I!)

                    More coming soon folks!

                    • Thanks for the updates, once again!
Love those pin and magnet of 747 as well as the goodie stuff from J777. Seems I don't have them.

Always love to checking on what's going on at the DO including the latest rumours and hush hush behind dot dot dots. In that particular morning, I just want to make sure that you guys would not forget to have new BPs as well as to use the First Class Check-In Lounge facility.

Ahh, that's because they are reserved for extra-extra-special-VVIPs hehe

                        • SQ F SIN-LHR Part I - Check in and fond farewells

Singapore Airlines, flight No. SQ 318 [SIN-LHR]
                          Dep. 12:45, Arr. 19:10 [13h 25m]
                          Boeing 747-400
                          F Class, Seats 2F/3F

Okay, I'll draw a deep breath and start what is arguably the most important section of this trip report! If I may start by addressing a comment made a short while ago by SQ LPP...

Now, winding back right to the start, when planning this trip we kept SQ LPP informed all along the way in the hope that he'd be able to join us for at least part of the trip (ideally to see us losing our long haul SQ F virginity!) In the early stages, he was hopeful of accompanying us, but he told us that his state of being grounded would last a fair bit longer than he had hoped. In the hope that this was a white lie, we had even decided against booking into seat 4F, and ceremoniously left this untouched for our friend to occupy (his favourite 744 F seat of course!) Right up until our SQ F check-in (actually, up until the doors of the aircraft closed), with bleeding fingers we tenaciously held onto the glimmer of hope that he was pulling our legs and would in fact be joining us for the flight...

The numerous texts that were exchanged between us in the lead up to the flight, the phone conversation he had with Sir. I whilst we were at the Intercontinental and the VVIP entourage that accompanied us to T3 F Check-in all could have been building up to an amazing surprise, but sadly this wasn't possible on this occasion So to answer SQ LPP's comments, we truly appreciated him being there in spirit, and his efforts in ensuring that Jubilee777 and Sir. I gave us the best possible send off experience. Next time, Sir. SQ LPP, we hope you'll be there to make the experience whole for us (and we'll even pretend to be SQ F virgins all over again for you )

As we pulled up at the F curbside, a number of helpers jumped to attention to take our bags and guide us through to check-in. I find it hard to remember specific details as I was feeling pretty awful, so we were grateful for the presence of our two VVIPs who could take care of things on our behalf! Our large collection of bags were loaded onto a cart, which was then taken through to the check-in desk. This was our first experience of T3, and (naturally) first experience of the First Class check-in area, having only seen it in SQ LPP's photographs. Very exciting stuff! All the time, Sir. I was doing the talking and Jubilee777 was acting as our roving photographer,...the next series of photographs are all courtesy of him (many thanks!!)

A quick shot of mrs nickbot, Sir. I and some gratuitous Tumi porn

In the photograph above, I think Sir. I is in the process of checking (on behalf of SQ LPP) that a certain something has been loaded onto the plane for us -I kind of heard this, but it didn't really register at the time,...more later!

The smiles of two pax embarking on a wonderful adventure!

Our new boarding passes were issued without hesitation, but if I remember correctly we may have been questioned over our choice of seating (i.e. not together!) -once again, a window seat each was a higher priority than sitting together!

After check-in, the four of us went for a quick walk through the landside area of Terminal 3, checking out the green wall, the other check-in areas and the departures area. Overall, pretty impressive, but with my dulled senses I found it hard to take in the experience properly (roll on the next visit, when hopefully I'll be in fine fettle!)

                          Terminal 3 departures

We then took a quick detour to the Bengawan Solo shop to pick up a special something for a certain London based SQTalker before our SQ F experience beckoned us and it was time to part company from our friends. We were so grateful to both Sir. I and Jubilee777 for taking the time to come and see us at the IC, and of course for accompanying us to Changi -we eagerly look forward to the next time we see you both

Jubilee777's role as group photographer didn't end just yet, for I am able to present to you a second by second account of the nickbots entering the airside area of Changi...

Posing before the point of no return...

...about to get a quick check from the security guy...

...a more in-depth check (probably because we look like Y pax )

                          Emigration check

With a final wave to our good friends, we turned and passed through security and were gone!

                          • A little deviation from the TR

Just a moment ago, I posted the following photograph of mrs nickbot and I passing through the SIA First Class Departure gate...

In answer to the "whY" terminology for Economy Class, Sir. I kindly tweaked the image to produce a gate especially for F Class redemption pax

...perhaps this is what SQ have in mind for their next round of "Enhancements", not only are O Class pax prevented from using TPR, they have to enter through the tradesman's gate

Back to regular scheduled programming shortly folks!

                            • I think in honor of those of us who step in a long-haul F cabin purely because we had accumulated miles, that should have read "Oh!".

                              Fab updates, nickbot.
